Happy Swiss National Day! ๐จ๐ญ
Switzerland has long shown the world what it means to welcome visitors while staying true to its communities, landscapes, and culture.
Today, as the country celebrates, we're proud to stand alongside WTTC Destination Partner Switzerland Tourism in championing a more mindful way to travel.
"Travel with care. Leave with memories." - a message that speaks to the heart of what responsible tourism looks like in practice: connecting the needs of visitors with those of the people who call these places home.
This Swiss National Day, wherever your journey takes you, travel with care ๐ซถ
Global tourism is changing before our eyes
WTTC Chairman Manfredi Lefebvre: "Travel is no longer driven simply by desire; increasingly, it’s driven by trust. Geopolitical instability is pushing millions of travellers toward what they perceive as safe, redrawing the map of demand faster than many destinations can manage.
The challenge isn’t remaining a safe harbour by accident; it’s turning contingent trust into a structural advantage, one that is built, not inherited.
The destinations that win the next decade won’t be the most visited, but the ones who read this shift earliest and invested accordingly: in infrastructure, in honest communication, in a capacity to welcome that generates lasting value."

WTTC Launches Global Destination Stewardship Principles to Shape the Future of Sustainable Tourism
he World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has introduced a new global framework aimed at helping destinations manage growing visitor numbers while ensuring local communities benefit from tourism.
Released in its latest policy brief, Destination Stewardship: Creating Value for All, the framework outlines seven principles encouraging governments, tourism authorities, businesses, and residents to work together on long-term planning. The recommendations focus on balancing economic growth with quality of life, using better data, engaging communities, and improving visitor experiences.
WTTC also highlights practical measures destinations can implement during peak travel periods to reduce congestion and better distribute tourism benefits.
The organization says the conversation around tourism should move beyond record visitor arrivals and instead focus on how destinations can manage growth responsibly, creating lasting value for residents, businesses, and travelers while protecting the character and sustainability of destinations worldwide
WTTC Expresses Solidarity as Wildfires Continue to Impact Spain and France
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has expressed its support for the people affected by the ongoing wildfires in Spain and France, acknowledging the devastating impact on families, communities, and local businesses.
In a statement, WTTC extended its deepest solidarity to those forced to cope with the destruction, while recognizing the dedication of firefighters, emergency responders, military personnel, and volunteers working around the clock to protect lives and property.
The organization said its thoughts remain with everyone affected as authorities continue to battle multiple fires across both countries. The wildfires have disrupted communities, threatened tourism-dependent regions, and prompted emergency response efforts during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
Officials continue to monitor the situation as firefighting operations remain underway and residents in affected areas face ongoing challenges.
WTTC Calls for Smarter Tourism Growth with New Global Stewardship Framework
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has released a new policy brief urging destinations to focus on managing tourism growth through long-term planning rather than limiting visitor numbers.
The report introduces seven destination stewardship principles aimed at helping governments, tourism authorities, and the private sector balance economic benefits with residents' quality of life. It also recommends immediate actions for peak travel periods, including monitoring resident sentiment, improving visitor flow management, and promoting lesser-known attractions. WTTC says sustainable tourism depends on collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and reinvesting tourism revenues into local communities to ensure travel growth benefits residents and visitors alike.
