こうした問題にはこうした対抗措置ではなく、宮内庁や首相が対外的にコメントをするので十分だと思う。
必要なのは対抗措置ではなく、理解を得るための丁寧な説明だ。
しかし、こうした勧告を誰が発案したのか、どの国からの提案なのかがもっと気になる。

北村俊博外務報道官が記者会見で明らかにした。「皇位につく資格は基本的人権に含まれない。男系男子に限定されていることは女子に対する差別に該当しない」と指摘。「皇位継承の在り方は国家の基本に関わる事項だ。女性差別撤廃委員会で取り上げることは適当でない」と強調した。

皇室が特別な存在であることは歴史的に見ても明らかであり、その継承ルールについては、単純に国際的なジェンダー平等の基準だけで語れるものではない。国連の女性差別撤廃委員会（CEDAW）が男系男子の継承制限を問題視したことに対し、日本政府が対抗措置として拠出金の使途から同委員会を除外したというのは、やや過剰反応のようにも思える。
本来、こうした問題に対抗措置を講じるよりも、宮内庁や政府が対外的に説明を行うことで十分ではないだろうか。日本の皇位継承制度には、単に性別による制約という視点だけでは測れない伝統や歴史的背景がある。国際社会に理解を求めるならば、制裁的な対抗措置ではなく、冷静で丁寧な説明を重ねる方が建設的な対応となる。
また、こうした議論は国際機関に主導されるのではなく、国内で慎重に議論されるべき問題だ。日本の皇室制度が持つ独自性を守りながら、時代の変化にどう適応するかを考えるべきであり、その議論は日本国内で行うのが筋である。

It is undeniable that the Japanese imperial family holds a unique status, and its succession rules cannot be judged solely through the lens of international gender equality standards. The United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) raising concerns about the male-only succession system is understandable from their perspective, but Japan’s response−excluding the committee from its voluntary contributions−seems somewhat excessive.
Rather than taking countermeasures, a more effective approach would be for the Imperial Household Agency and the government to provide clear and reasoned explanations to the international community. The Japanese imperial succession system is deeply rooted in tradition and historical context, making it difficult to assess purely through contemporary gender-based discussions. If Japan wishes to seek understanding, it would be more constructive to engage in calm and thorough diplomatic dialogue rather than punitive financial measures.
Moreover, discussions about the future of imperial succession should be led domestically rather than dictated by international bodies. While it is essential to consider how to modernize aspects of the system, any changes must be carefully deliberated within Japan itself, respecting both historical continuity and evolving societal values.
