This specialized program enables students to learn business organization as well as operation skills and techniques in a realistic business setting. Classes are held in Fair Oaks shopping mall. Traditional classroom instruction in marketing, merchandising, fashion and management is enhanced by the opportunity for students to meet and work with professionals in the mall businesses. Students will develop critical-thinking and decision-making skills through the application of marketing principles to small and large businesses, nonprofit organizations, service industries, and other institutions or associations that make products or provide services. Students attend their base schools for regular classes and then travel to Fair Oaks shopping mall for both classroom instruction and related on-the-job training. The Holiday Gift Wrap Center and Prom Dress Shop offer additional opportunities for real-life entrepreneurial experiences. Due to the unique structure of this program, excellent attendance is mandatory. DECA, the co-curricular student organization, offers opportunities in leadership, community, and competitive events. Internship is available for this course. Students combine classroom instruction and supervised on-the-job training in an approved position with continuing supervision throughout the school year.

Small Business Marketing provides students with a comprehensive understanding of small business marketing and management within the dynamic and competitive retail industry. This course focuses on concepts and practical applications of retail operations, including buying, selling, human resource management, business operations, product/service management, merchandising, promotion, and customer service. Students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage and optimize retail operations, drive sales, enhance customer satisfaction, and improve overall business performance. Contextual instructions an student participation in co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities will develop leadership, interpersonal, and career skills, High-quality work-based learning (HQWBL) will provide experiential learning opportunities related to students' career goals and/or interests, integrated with instruction, and performed in partnership with local businesses and organizations.
