Parent Coffee

March 2026 Community Conversation

The community conversation focused on fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive school environment for all students. Families and staff discussed the impact of hate speech and harmful language, the importance of empathy and respectful communication, and ways school and home can work together to support students. The session also provided guidance and resources for talking with children about inclusion, belonging, and the power of words.

Our October Parent Coffee focused on math routines used at Fairhill.  These routines build number sense and computational strategies, as well as help children experience creativity and joy in math.  We also discussed how students build conceptual understanding in mathematics and how procedural fluency is built on a conceptual foundation.  Resources that parents can use to support mathematical thinking at home were provided. Questions about this Parent Coffee can be directed to Sara Scott, Math Resource Teacher ( [email protected] ).
