Student Testing
Assessments are part of the teaching and learning process in Fairfax County Public Schools. Teachers give assessments to students on an ongoing basis to check for understanding and gather information about students' knowledge and skills. The state and school division also expect students to participate in certain tests to help with monitoring school and student performance and to provide information about additional services that may benefit the student. Dates are below.
SOL Testing Spring 2026
Believe it or not, the Standards of Learning Assessments are just around the corner at Fairhill! Below is the schedule for testing. The SOL Assessments in grades 3-6 and content area differs by grade level. Please plan for success by ensuring your child has a good night’s sleep the night before, a hearty breakfast the morning of, and arrive to school on time for the day of their scheduled test. Testing will begin promptly by 9:45 AM; if a student arrives after this time, they will take the test on an alternate date. - Monday, May 11: Grade 3, 4, 5, and 6 Reading
- Monday, May 18: Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (6ADV), and Algebra Math
- Thursday, May 21: Grade 5 Science
- Small group testing will take place throughout the testing window. Families will be contacted by the classroom teacher, special education teacher, or ESOL teacher if their student is testing on a day other than those listed above.
