FACS Service Project: Dog Treats for Homeward Trails
The 7 th grade students in Ms. Murphy’s class did a service project of making Homemade Pumpkin Oat Treats for Homeward Trails. The service project falls under FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) which is a national Career and Technical Student Organization for students in Family and Consumer Sciences Education, fostering personal growth and leadership skills to address personal, work, and societal issues through hands-on experiences. This project was student-driven to support community needs. Homeward Trails is an Animal Rescue organization that secures temporary and permanent homes for thousands of dogs and cats annually who are rescued from under-resourced communities and shelters or whose owners can no longer care for them. They are located in Fairfax Station.
