ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS

Outcomes

● 100% of Students with Disabilities will meet or exceed screener benchmark stretch goal in iReady by June of 2026.● The percentage of students meeting or exceeding screener benchmark will increase from fall to spring by 20%.

Strategies

● Increase teacher pedagogical skills in evidence-based literacy instruction to improve implementation of the core curriculum (ex. explicit instruction, student discourse).● Increase access to rigorous evidence-based, grade-level curriculum through intentional use of modifications (without reducing rigor), scaffolds, and supports in reading and writing lessons during core instruction (ex. Integrated ELD/supports within curriculum documents or HMH, SIOP strategies, FCPS resources for students with disabilities).

SUCCESS IN ALGEBRA BEFORE HIGH SCHOOL

Outcomes

● By June of 2026, multi-lingual learners will develop math-focused vocabulary and increase content and computational skills by 20% from the Fall MAPs screener to the Spring MAPs screener. ● Since there is a 17% increase of 8th graders enrolled in Algebra for 2026, the goal will be to maintain the 2025 pass rate of 100%. In addition, continue to maintain a 100% pass rate for students with disabilities in Algebra 1. Overall Enrollment for Algebra or higher was 78% for 2025 which was a 14% increase.

Strategies

● Increase teachers' implementation of strategies and conversation structures that increase academic talk between students related to Shift 4: from show and tell to share and compare.
● Increase formal collaboration between classroom teachers and ESOL teachers to develop the language of mathematics through the use of embedded strategies during whole-group and small-group instruction.
● Increase systems of support during the school day, after school, and summer to help students achieve success in mathematics.

CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM

Outcomes

● By June 2026 the YTD chronic absenteeism rate will be under 11% with less than 100 students identified as chronically absent.

Strategies

● MTSS Schoolwide and Site Intervention teams analyze attendance, behavior, and wellness data twice a month to evaluate implementation of Tier 1 SEL/wellness initiatives and identify students in need of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions. Integrate consistent analysis of data disaggregated by student groups (race/ethnicity, SWD, ML, FRM).
● Communicate with families to recognize and celebrate student growth or success in academics, behavior, attendance, or other areas using a variety of communication methods (e.g., phone calls, emails, Talking Points, postcards) to strengthen student and family engagement.
● Teachers use a variety of culturally-responsive practices and communication methods to provide supportive outreach to students and families when student attendance concerns arise.

SCIENCE

Outcomes

● By June 2026 8th grade students taking the grade 8 science SOL will have a pass rate of 77% or higher as measured by the SOL scores.

Strategies

● Follow the 5E Model of inquiry-based instruction, providing students with opportunities to explore content and skills prior to explicit vocabulary instruction.
● Increase opportunities for students to apply and demonstrate understanding of vocabulary through evidence-based arguments and reasoning, such as the Claim-Evidence-Reasoning approach.
● Increase opportunities for English Language Development through use of embedded strategies during whole group instruction and intentional small group instruction focused on specific student needs.
