Reading by 3rd Grade

Goal: The percentage of MLs in grades K-3 demonstrating low risk will increase by 5 percentage points from fall 2025 to spring 2026. The unadjusted pass rate for the Grade 3 Reading SOL will increase by 5 percentage points from spring 2025 to spring 2026.

Strategy 1:Improve integrity of implementation of core curriculum: tailoring instruction to meet student needs aligned with evidence-based literacy instruction (ex. classroom walkthroughs, CT planning, coaching).

  • Action 1:Utilize FCPS Implementation Guides to intentionally use UDL strategies to promote access and engagement, proactively selecting examples to be modeled, tasks for guided and independent practice, and discourse structures used.

  • Action 2:Debrief with teachers and/or teams after lesson observations and walkthroughs to review and provide feedback on lesson tailoring.

Mathematics

Goal: By June 2026, the percentage of students with disabilities who pass the Mathematics Standards of Learning (SOL) assessment will increase by 10 percentage points—from 32% in 2024–2025 to 42% in 2025–2026. By June 2026, the percentage of students economically disadvantaged will increase by 10% on the Mathematics Standards of Learning (SOL) assessment will increase by 10 percentage points—from 32% in 2024–2025 to 42% in 2025–2026.
  • Strategy 1:Improve the integrity of implementation of core curriculum, and/or intervention programs by using FCPS-adopted resources with fidelity to align with the Framework for Engaging & Student-Centered Mathematics Instruction.

    • Action 1:Collaborate with Region 1 and Title 1 math support to provide professional learning that increases teacher knowledge around explicit math instruction

    • Action 2:Systematic and Explicit PD throughout the year (i.e., Ready Set Math  / AVMR)

    • Action 3:CLTs will be used to enhance teacher practice of teaching mathematics aligned with the FCPS Planning and Pacing Guides and the Framework for Engaging & Student-Centered Mathematics Instruction.

  • Strategy 2:Improve alignment of instructional planning based on analysis of common assessments.

    • Action 1:Use of Ready Set Math, MAP, and AVMR assessments for data driven math instruction and intervention

    • Action 2 :The coaching team will strategically develop a data driven math support plan that includes co-teaching, modeling and coaching in math classrooms (grades 3-6).

    • Action 3:Utilize grade level pacing guides to build in flex days for re-teaching concepts whole/small group

  • Strategy 3:Increase formal collaboration between classroom teachers and ESOL teachers to develop the language of mathematics through the use of embedded strategies during whole-group and small-group instruction.

    • Action 1:Establish regular collaborative planning time between ESOL teachers and classroom teachers to intentionally integrate language development strategies into math instruction.

    • Action 2:Develop and implement language objectives aligned with math content objectives to support vocabulary acquisition and academic language use.

    • Action 3:Provide professional development on best practices for integrating content and language instruction in mathematics during our school based professional development days.

Science

Goal: By the end of the 2025-2026 school year, the science SOL scores for all students will increase by 3% on the Science SOL.

Strategy 1:Increase content and/or pedagogy knowledge in science for all teachers (advanced, general, ESOL, special education).

  • Action 1:We will partner with science regional support staff to provide professional development to build teacher content knowledge around science instruction.

  • Action 2:The coaching team (instructional coach, EMRT, SBTS) will develop a co-teaching, modeling, and coaching plan to support science instruction beginning in Quarter 1.

  • Action 3:The 5th grade science team will develop a plan to strategically teach and assess 5th grade science curriculum and intentionally review and assess 4th grade science curriculum throughout the year.

Chronic Absenteeism

Goal: By June 2026, our school will reduce its chronic absenteeism rate 5 percentage points from 15% in June 2025 to 10% in June 2026.

Strategy 1:Identified time in the master schedule is used to implement Morning Meeting (ES) or Responsive Advisory Meeting (MS/HS) with fidelity to improve student perceptions of belonging.

  • Action 1:Ensure that all staff adheres to the identified Morning Meeting time in the instructional schedule

  • Action 2:Instructional Leadership Team supports grade-level teachers through modeling, collaborating, and participating in Morning Meetings throughout the year to improve a sense of belonging

  • Action 3: Utilize 2X10 strategy to build relationships with students.

AVID Strategy:Teachers will promote student engagement and create a welcoming classroom environment by modeling social and emotional competencies in their interactions with students.
