Welcome to the Lane Library!
About
The Lane Library is a warm and welcoming place for students, teachers, and parents. It is the goal of the library program to develop and encourage a love of reading for all students and assist them in becoming critical thinkers who are effective and responsible users of information.
All students have regular library lessons with their classes. Students may also visit the library during small group hours (two to four students), outside their library time, with their teacher’s permission.
In accordance with the regulations of Fairfax County Public Schools, the library does not censor student reading choices. We strongly encourage parents or guardians to review the books their children are selecting to read and make their own decisions about what they consider appropriate. If you have concerns about what your child is reading or if you would like book suggestions, feel free to contact the librarian.
Overdue/Damaged/Books Policy
Students are not fined for overdue books! We encourage students to return their books in order to check out new ones. Overdue notices are emailed once per quarter, with more frequent emails during the fourth quarter. If a student has a number of overdue books, a paper notice may be distributed to help remind the student to bring in books.
We encourage students to treat their library books with care. Please keep the books away from dirt, water, food and drink, younger siblings and pets. We understand that accidents happen. Please note that families are generally expected to pay the replacement cost for books that are lost or returned damaged.
