Academic Tips
Here is a step-by-step guide on what to do when you are struggling in your classes

Step 1 - Talk to the teacher
I am struggling in a class. What do I do? Your teacher is the first point of contact.
- Define specifically what you are struggling with (e.g., test scores, homework completion, understanding specific concepts).
- Request a meeting with your teacher.
- Saxon Time Request
- Email the teacher
- Talk to your teacher after class
- Before/After School by Appointment
- Late Bus Wednesdays
- Students should make appointments with teachers to ensure they will be available after school on these days. Students must receive a bus pass in the cafeteria to ride the bus home.
- Develop a plan with your teacher and figure out a time to follow up.
How do I find my teacher’s email address?
- In Schoology, you can message your teachers directly.
- There is also a contact page on Langley's website for each teacher.
- In StudentVue, if you click on the teacher's name, their email pops up.

Step 3 - Resources
-
Grades, Grade Book Information, and Retake Policy
- Make sure you know what the grading policies are for your classes.
- Check Schoology/check the syllabus for the class.
- If you don't know or can't find the information, ask your teacher.
- Check Schoology/check the syllabus for the class.
- Retakes can be a helpful tool if you struggled on an assessment, but don't rely on taking a retake every time you have a test.
- That can lead to a "snowball" effect, where preparing for retakes impacts how much time you have to prepare for other tests that you're taking for the first time.
- Make sure you know what the grading policies are for your classes.
