FCPS Superintendent, Dr. Michelle Reid, paid a visit to some of our classrooms this week to see the amazing things that happen at Mosaic!

📰What's Happening at Mosaic? 📝Kindergarten Registrations Needed!

If you have a child turning 5 by September 30, we encourage you to get those registrations in as soon as possible.

Families can register their new students in one of the following ways:

Help us spread the word to friends and neighbors.

We look forward to welcoming our newest students and families to our school community!

📖Reading Makes Cents - Win Money for College!

Your child could win money for college! Just read five books from the Reading Makes Cents reading list, which supports financial literacy, and then  send in your child’s reading log , online or by mail. Two lucky students from our region will win $529 for higher education. If Mosaic Elementary has a high participation rate, we could win $500 worth of books for our school library!

📖InSPIREing the Love of Literacy

We are incredibly grateful to Educate Fairfax for their generous support in awarding us a grant to fund additional SPIRE reading intervention kits. This vital funding allows us to provide targeted literacy support to students who need it most, ensuring every child has the tools to become a confident, lifelong reader.  Having these additional kits allows more teachers to reach more students.  Because of Educate Fairfax’s commitment to education, we can continue to bridge the literacy gap and foster a deep love for stories and learning within our community.

✏️Order School Supplies from Sprout!

Make back-to-school shopping easy this year! The Mosaic Elementary PTA is once again offering Sprout School Supply Kits - an affordable, convenient way to get everything your child needs while supporting our school community. Simply order online using our school code, and your child’s kit will be delivered directly to the school before the first day.

Order at: sproutsupplies.com
School Code:MES004
Order Deadline:July 7, 2026
Delivery:Kits will be sent to school prior to the first day—watch for more details in school communications.

🏫New Visitor Management System

We are excited to announce that our school is now using the new Raptor Visitor Management System (VMS). This upgrade is part of our school’s and FCPS’ ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety and streamlining the process for visitors at our school. The VMS ensures that no visitor is on the sex offender registry.

For most visitors, the user experience will be the same when you check-in at the front office.

But now there is also an app, which can make check-in’s even faster at school. Visitors who choose to download the RaptorSafe App and create a Raptor Passport can pre-verify their information before they get to school. The app will give you a QR code you can use when you check-in at school.

If you have questions or need assistance with the new system, please contact our front office. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our schools safe!

📝Survey of Preschool Children and Kindergarten Registration

Do you have a rising kindergartener?

If so, please return the green Survey of Preschool Children form that was sent home last week. Virginia law requires that children who will reach their fifth birthday on or before September 30, 2026 must be enrolled in Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year, unless the parent or guardian notifies the school that the child will not be attending. Please only list the name of the child who will be 5 years of age as of September 30, 2026 on the form. No need to send the form back if you do not have a rising kindergartner. Contact [email protected] if you have any questions.

We also encourage you to register your Kindergartner now for the 2026-2027 school year.

Families can register online at fcps.edu/online-registration (preferred), download forms at fcps.edu/registration/forms , or stop by the office to pick up a packet.

Our Kindergarten Orientation is being held on April 10 at 10:00 a.m. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the kindergarten program at Mosaic. Resources on the School Readiness and Transition to Kindergarten webpage provide parents with ways to support their children to help ensure a smooth transition to kindergarten.
