Student Parking
Procedures for obtaining a student parking permit
*** Applications for the 2025-2026 School Year are now closed ***
Dear South Lakes High School Seniors/Juniors, Parents, and Legal Guardians:
Welcome to a new school year! Student online parking permit applications for the 2025-2026 school year will open on Monday, August 4th.
All student financial obligations must be cleared BEFORE students can purchase a permit. This includes all past due course fees, parking, technology, library, lost textbook fines, or other debt that was incurred during previous school years.
If you are unsure of your outstanding financial obligations, please inquire via Kelly Stiehl, Admin Assistant, at @email . Please settle outstanding fines/fees prior to the online submission of the application to avoid delays and extra processing.
Students approved for a parking permit may pick it up by the main office on Wednesday, August 13 and Thursday, August 14 from 9:00am - 12:00pm. The student must pick-up and show their driver's license. Parents/friends are not permitted to pick up the permit for the student.
Please note: the student parking lot has changed this year and is located on the side of the school outside Door #1. Please park there when picking up your permit.
If there are any available student parking spots after Thursday, August 14th, the remaining spaces will be assigned via a lottery to any eligible juniors who have applied online. Please submit questions to Valerie Winter, Assistant Principal, at @email or Kelly Stiehl, Admin Assistant, at @email .
STEP 1: Complete the Application
The link to the online parking permit application is located on the bottom of this page in the green box below Step 3. The form must be completed prior to the issuance of a permit.
STEP 2: Administrative Assessment of Parking Privileges
Parking on school grounds is a privilege and is extended to students who are in good standing. Students with poor attendance records, to include excessive unexcused absences and tardies, will not be considered for a parking permit. Behavioral issues, extensive disciplinary records and grading may also be considered during the assessment period.
Students who receive a parking permit may have their attendance and disciplinary record reviewed by an administrator at any time and could have their permit suspended or revoked during the school year. Students who do not follow the rules and regulations outlined in the parking agreement could have their permit suspended or revoked during the school year. There will be no refund of fees if a permit is revoked.
Students will be notified once their application is approved. If a student's application is denied, they will be notified regarding the reason for denial. If an application is denied for outstanding fines/fees, the application will be reconsidered after the obligations are paid.
STEP 3: Parking Permit Issuance
South Lakes High School has a limited numberof parking spaces and not everyone who applies may be awarded a space. Rising SENIORS will receive priority in the issuance of parking permits and any remaining spaces will be distributed among JUNIORS via a lottery. Students taking FCPS Academy classes where transportation is not provided will be given special consideration.
Students MUST have a valid driver’s license and have completed the online student parking application with parent signature authorizing their permission for their child to drive to school. Students must present their driver’s license to school security prior to the issuance of a permit.
The cost for the parking permit is $200.00.
Note: If you qualify for free/reduced-price meals, you must reapply each year. Documentation of free/reduced lunch eligibility for the 2025-2026 school year is required for a reduced parking rate, so please don’t apply for a parking permit until you have received approval from Food and Nutrition Services.
Payment is due at the time the permit is approved/issued. Payment can be made via MySchoolBucks (add the Student Parking Fee icon to your cart), cash, or checks payable to South Lakes High School.
PARKING VIOLATIONS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
Cars may be ticketed, booted, or towed.
