Chief of Schools
Region 4 reports to the FCPS Chief of Schools.
The mission of the Region 4 office is to ensure educational excellence, equity, and higher expectations for student achievement in a safe learning environment; provide leadership, direction, and accountability for student achievement, school effectiveness, and community relations; supervise, advise, evaluate, and hire principals; serve as a school-community liaison; and serve as a broker or advocate for the delivery of services to schools.
Region 4 is organized into five geographical pyramids. At the top of each pyramid is one high school, one middle school, and between four and six elementary schools. The Region 4 pyramids are Centreville, Lake Braddock, Robinson, South County, and West Springfield.

The regional assistant superintendent provides leadership, direction, and accountability for principals by monitoring school effectiveness through testing data, staff and parent surveys, and feedback from the school community.
Promoting collaboration among schools, parents, and the School Board is important, and the regional assistant superintendent is often involved in resolving difficult issues.
The regional assistant superintendent is also responsible for evaluating principals, conducting searches for new principals, and developing and promoting positive, capable, and diverse school leaders.
The executive principals support the region by providing guidance and coaching to school principals and working closely with assistant principals to facilitate professional development throughout the school year.
Superintendent Reid's entry plan includes listening sessions with various audiences and careful preparation to engineer transition success.
