Offering Take-Home Meal Kits
FCPS Offers Take-Home Meal Kits for Fasting Students
FCPS is offering take-home meal kits from Wednesday, February 18 to Thursday, March 19, 2026 to support students who are fasting during the school day.
Thanks to a program from the Virginia Department of Education, students can now take healthy school meal kits home at the end of the day. These kits are designed to be eaten later that day and include both breakfast and lunch.
How to Sign Up
Families must fill out a meal kit request form on the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) website for each student, every week. Because these meals are prepared fresh, we cannot accept late requests. Please check Important Dates and Forms below for weekly deadlines.

Who can pick up the meal kits?
- Only the student can pick up the meal kit. Per state rules, adults are not allowed to pick up these meals for their children.
Where and when is pickup?
- Meal kits are given to students at the end of the school day to keep the food cold and fresh. Pickup locations vary by school.
- Please remind your child to go to the meal kit pickup location at their school before leaving for the day.
- To reduce food waste, the student's meal kit service may be discontinued if kits are not picked up.
What is inside the kit?
- Each kit is a complete, healthy meal with protein, fruits, vegetables, milk, and grains following the usual school breakfast and school lunch menus .
Can my child eat at school and get a kit?
- No. Students who eat breakfast or lunch at school during the day cannot receive a take-home kit for that same day. These kits are meant to support students fasting during this time frame.
Can my oldest child pick up meals for themselves and their siblings?
- No. Each student must pick up their own meals at the end of the school day. State rules require schools to give meals directly to the individual student.
What if my child is absent or I need to change the meal order?
- Please email the Food and Nutrition Services team at [email protected] at least 24 hours before the change is needed.
