FCPS Application for the Virginia Department of Education’s Seal of Biliteracy
Eligibility:Students should fill out this form ONLYIF they are a current 12th-grade student graduating in June or August of the current school year ANDhave not previously met the World Language criteria through FCPS-administered assessments (AP, IB, PALS, or Credit Exam).
Deadline:Return this application and all verification documents to your School Counselor no later than May 1st of your senior year.

Before checking the boxes below, cross-reference the student's credentials with the current VDOE Seal of Biliteracy guidelines. Because state criteria may be updated annually, always consult the VDOE Seal of Biliteracy " Evidence of Proficiency" list to ensure the student’s evidence meets the criteria for the current graduation year.
- World Language Proficiency:The student has achieved a qualifying score on an assessment currently recognized on the VDOE list of approved assessments. I have verified that the assessment type and all required sub-scores meet or exceed the minimum threshold defined by the state for the current academic cycle.
- English Language Arts (ELA) Requirement:The student has met all current state-mandated English requirements for graduation. I have confirmed the student has satisfied the ELA criteria (SOLs or approved substitute evaluations) as outlined in the most recent VDOE graduation requirements.
- Documentation:A copy of the official score report is attached to this application and has been retained in the student’s permanent file
