About Tom
Tom Dannan is a project manager, small business owner, and proud father of two amazing FCPS students. He has been an active member of the Braddock community for years as a baseball coach, dog foster, and president of the Terra Centre PTA, where, in his first year, he expanded PTA membership by 46% and increased fundraising by 43%.
Mr. Dannan began serving as the Braddock District representative on the Fairfax County School Board in March 2026, filling a vacancy through a Special Election. His current term expires December 31, 2027.
He spent the early years of his career overseas, first serving in the Peace Corps as a Community Health Educator, and then as the Executive Director of a nonprofit in South Sudan. These experiences shaped his perspective for serving on the school board and enshrined in him a commitment to listening to people on the ground, doing the work. Mr. Dannan firmly believes that every child, no matter who they are or where they come from, deserves a welcoming, high-quality public education that helps them reach their full potential, and he is committed to fighting for that on the school board.
Mr. Dannan holds an A.A. in Humanities from Onondaga Community College, a B.A. in Policy Studies, and Masters in Public Administration from Syracuse University.
