Student Transfer High School Curricular Program
Minimum Course Enrollment Requirements
Please note the following important eligibility information:
-If a student enrolls at the new school after accepting a high school curricular transfer and does not meet the program requirements, the student will be ineligible to participate in VHSL interscholastic athletics and activities for 90 calendar days.
- Students granted a transfer for Senior Status following a high school curricular program transfer are not eligible for VHSL interscholastic athletics and activities.
-After accepting a high school curricular transfer, the student must maintain continuous and satisfactory enrollment in the required coursework listed above. Returning to the student’s base school before the end of Grade 12 may affect eligibility for VHSL activities.
Transfer Request: Advanced Placement (AP) Program Course Enrollment Requirements
Please read the Advanced Placement (AP) Program minimum course enrollment requirements and indicate your agreement to proceed.
Students approved for transfer to access an AP program must meet the following minimum continuous course enrollment requirements:
- Grade 9:Enrollment in a minimum of two Honors or AP courses.
- Grade 10:Enrollment in a minimum of two Honors or AP courses.
- Grade 11:Enrollment in a minimum of three AP courses.
- Grade 12:Enrollment in a minimum of three AP courses.
Anticipated outcome:Successful attainment of an FCPS diploma with credits earned in a minimum of ten advanced courses, including a minimum of six AP courses and four Honors courses.
Transfer Request: International Baccalaureate (IB) Program Course Enrollment Requirements
Please read the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program minimum course enrollment requirements and indicate your agreement to proceed.
Students approved for transfer to access an IB program must meet the following minimum continuous course enrollment requirements:
- Grade 9:Enrollment in a minimum of two Honors/Pre-IB courses in preparation for IB courses.
- Grade 10:Enrollment in a minimum of two Honors/Pre-IB courses in preparation for IB courses.
- Grade 11:Enrollment in a minimum of three Honors or IB courses. At least two of the courses must be IB courses.
- Grade 12:Enrollment in a minimum of three Honors or IB courses. At least two of the courses must be IB courses.
Anticipated outcome:Successful attainment of an FCPS diploma or International Baccalaureate Diploma with credits earned in a minimum of ten advanced courses, including a minimum of four IB courses and six Honors courses.
Transfer Request: Edison Global STEM Challenges Program Course Enrollment Requirements
Please read the Edison Global STEM Challenges Program minimum course enrollment requirements and indicate your agreement to proceed.
Students approved for transfer to access the Edison Global STEM Challenges Program must meet the following minimum continuous course enrollment requirements:
- Grade 9:Enrollment in the three Global STEM courses: Integrated Math, Science, and Technology/Engineering.
- Grade 10:Enrollment in the three Global STEM courses: Integrated Math, Science, and Technology/Engineering.
- Grade 11:Enrollment in the three Global STEM courses: Integrated Math, Science, and Technology/Engineering, and completion of the asynchronous credit in computer science prior to the end of Grade 11.
- Grade 12:Enrollment in the remaining courses required for the student’s diploma type based on student interest and their academic and career plan.
Anticipated outcome:Successful attainment of an FCPS diploma or International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum of ten credits earned through the Global STEM Challenges Program.
Decisions regarding Global STEM transfer requests will be made after course selection for base school students is complete. Families will be notified in April.
Transfer Request: Lewis Leadership Course Enrollment Requirements
Please read the Lewis Leadership Program minimum course enrollment requirements and indicate your agreement to proceed.
Students approved for transfer to access the Lewis Leadership Program must meet the following minimum continuous course enrollment requirements:
- Grade 9:Enrollment in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies courses and Lewis Leadership Lab 1.
- Grade 10:Enrollment in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies courses and Lewis Leadership Lab 2.
- Grade 11:Enrollment in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies courses and Lewis Leadership Lab 3.
- Grade 12:Enrollment in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies courses and Lewis Leadership Lab 4.
Anticipated outcome:Successful attainment of an FCPS diploma or International Baccalaureate Diploma with four credits earned in Lewis Leadership Lab.
