Faculty are encouraged to keep abreast of the current trends and information in their fields. The GCU Library is here to help you...
You can speak to a librarian by phone, chat, or email during open hours, no appointment needed! A webinar specifically for faculty is also offered once a month.
The Center for Innovation in Research and Teaching (CIRT) was founded in 2010 to facilitate excellence in research and teaching at Grand Canyon University. As a faculty-driven initiative, CIRT strives to meet the ever-changing needs of our diverse faculty. CIRT programming and services cross teaching mode and discipline to foster an integrated faculty community of teaching scholars.
CIRT has services available such as:
The Office of Research and Grants focuses on the development and management of research initiatives and grants, which entails providing a range of research resources to foster stakeholder scholarly engagement, supporting the university's broader research training and development, and promoting grant tracking and compliance monitoring.
Keeping track of relevant research can be a challenge.
Citation management software helps you organize, format, and store your citations as you gather them from across many different resources. You can sort references into folders, such as grouping articles according to an article or book chapter you are working on. RefWorks is also able to store full text if you upload a PDF.
The library provides access to two Citation Management software programs:
Access RefWorks or EndNote through the RefWorks & EndNote guide.
Search alerts are very useful when conducting long term research. Being alerted by a journal, publisher, or aggregator (like Google, EBSCOHost, or ProQuest), can save time when needing the latest research. Simply follow the instructions on the Search Alerts guide for many of the GCU databases as well as Google Scholar.
Need an article or book not in the GCU Library? You can request it using the Tipasa Interlibrary Loan system !
Articles take from 3-12 business days to obtain. Articles ordered from other libraries will be sent to you as a PDF attached to email.
Books take from 1-3 weeks. Books can only be borrowed in print, and will come through the mail. All postage is paid by the university.
You can also recommend resources--books, journals, or databases--for purchase by the library. We welcome suggestions, both for resources helpful for your research and for those helpful for your classes. All recommendations receive thorough consideration, but the Library doesn't guarantee that the recommendation will be purchased. Final decisions for recommendations are made by the librarians in accordance with the Library's Collection Development Policy.
