You can ask Gemini Apps to help you find, get details for, and navigate to places. Gemini uses public information from Google Maps to help you:
- Find places such as business, stores, restaurants, parks and attractions
- Get addresses, descriptions, websites, ratings, and opening hours for a place
- Get directions based on mode of transport and help you avoid things like tolls
Tip:Gemini Apps can still use your saved Work and Home locations from your Google Account to get directions for you. Gemini can also use your device location with your permission.
What you need
- Be signed in to the Gemini app. Learn how to sign in to Gemini Apps .
- Keep Activity on.This feature isn’t available when this setting is off.
Important:
- For now, this feature isn’t available in Live chats.
- This feature isn’t available in Gemini in Google Messages.
Get directions & info about a place
- On your computer, go to gemini.google.com .
- Ask Gemini to give you directions or find info about a place.

Get more details about a place & perform common actions
To open a place’s details page in Google Maps, click the place’s linked name in Gemini’s response.
On the place’s details page, if available, you can:
- Get directions
- View a restaurant’s menu
- Visit a place’s website or social media page
- Call the place and more
What Gemini Apps can’t do with Google Maps
The following actions aren’t supported in Gemini Apps when it connects to Google Maps:
- Save your location history
- Use your saved places, other than work or home
- Provide live traffic updates
- Add a review to a place
