You must be signed in as a super administrator for this task.
With Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), your users can sign in to enterprise cloud applications with their Google Cloud credentials.
Set up SSO via SAML for Mimecast cloud
Before configuring SSO, you need to know which Mimecast grid hosts your organization’s Mimecast account. Then, based on its location, choose a region from the following list:
- Europe: EU
- United States: US
- South Africa: ZA
- Australia: AU
- Offshore: JER
For step 1, you also need the account code unique to your Mimecast account. To see your account code, go to Administration Account Account Settings on Mimecast’s Administration Console.
Step 1: Set up Google as a SAML identity provider (IdP)- Sign in with a super administrator account to the Google Admin console.
If you aren’t using a super administrator account, you can’t complete these steps.

- Click Add app Search for apps.
- Enter Mimecastin the search field.
- In the search results, hover over the MimecastSAML app and click Select.
- On the Google Identity Provider detailspage:
- Copy and save the SSO URL.
- Copy and save the Entity ID.
- Download the Certificate.
- Click Continue.
- On the Service provider detailspage, edit the ACS URLand the Entity ID values. Replace {region} and {account code} with the values appropriate for your Mimecast account.
- Click Continue.
- (Optional) To map Google directory attributes to the corresponding app attributes, in the Attribute Mappingwindow:
- Click Add Mapping.
- Click Select fieldselect a Google directory attribute.
- For App attributes, enter the corresponding app attribute.
- (Optional) To enter group names that are relevant for this app:
- For Group membership (optional), click Search for a group, enter one or more letters of the group name, and select the group name.
- Add additional groups as needed (maximum of 75 groups).
- For App attribute, enter the corresponding groups attribute name of the service provider.
Regardless of how many group names you enter, the SAML response includes only groups that a user is a member of (directly or indirectly). For more information, go to About group membership mapping .
- On the Attribute mappingpage, click Finish.

Open a new incognito browser window and sign in to the Administration Console of your Mimecast account.

Go to Administration Services Applications.

Click Authentication Profiles.

Do one of the following:

Select an existing Authentication Profile to update.

Click New Authentication Profileto create a new one. Then enter a description.

Click Enforce SAML Authentication for Mimecast Personal Portal.
The screen displays the SAML settings. -
Do one of the following:

Select Googlefrom the Provider pull-down list to see help text specific to Google

Select Otherif you don’t find Google in the list.

Enter the Google IdP’s SSO URL(you copied in step 1) in to the Login URLfield.

Enter the Google IdP’s Entity ID(you copied in step 1) in to the Issuerfield.

Copy and paste the content of the Google IdP Certificate(you downloaded in step 1) in to the Identity Provider Certificate Metadata field. Delete the Begin and End tags from the Certificate.

Click Allow Single Sign On.This setting enables (or disables) Identity Provider initiated Sign On.
- Sign in with a super administrator account to the Google Admin console.
If you aren’t using a super administrator account, you can’t complete these steps.

- Select Mimecast.
- Click User access.

To turn a service on or off for everyone in your organization, click On for everyoneor Off for everyone, and then click Save.
- (Optional) To turn a service on or off for an organizational unit:
- At the left, select the organizational unit.
- To change the Service status, select Onor Off.
- Choose one:
- If the Service status is set to Inherited and you want to keep the updated setting, even if the parent setting changes, click Override.
- If the Service status is set to Overridden, either click Inheritto revert to the same setting as its parent, or click Saveto keep the new setting, even if the parent setting changes.

- (Optional) To turn on a service for a set of users across or within organizational units, select an access group. For details, go to Use groups to customize service access .
- Ensure that your Mimecast user account email IDs match those in your Google domain.
Mimecast supports both Identity Provider (IdP) initiated and Service Provider (SP) initiated SSO. Follow these steps to verify SSO in either mode:
IdP-initiated
- Sign in with a super administrator account to the Google Admin console.
If you aren’t using a super administrator account, you can’t complete these steps.

- Select Mimecast.
- At the top left, click Test SAML login.
Mimecast should open in a separate tab. If it doesn’t, use the information in the resulting SAML error messages to update your IdP and SP settings as needed, then retest SAML login.
SP-initiated
- In a new incognito browser window, go to the Mimecast Personal Portal.
- Enter your primary email address.
You should be automatically redirected to the Google sign-in page. - Enter your username and password.
After your credentials are authenticated you are automatically redirected to Mimecast.
