- To use Gemini Apps with a Google AI plan in most countries, you must be 13 (or the applicable age in your country
) or over.
- To use Gemini Apps with a Google AI plan in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom, you must be 18 years of age or older.
- Some features may not be available for users under the age of 18 or 13 (or the applicable age in your country ). In the help center, you will find additional information about age requirements.

Gemini Apps has usage limits designed to ensure an optimal experience for everyone. This means we may at times have to cap the number of prompts and conversations you can have, or how much you can use some features, within a specific timeframe.
The number of prompts you can use before hitting the limit varies and depends on factors like how long and complex your prompts are, the size and number of files you upload, and the length of your conversations with Gemini Apps.
Your capacity replenishes regularly, so you can get back to chatting with Gemini Apps soon, or you can upgrade to a higher plan.

How model limits workHow feature limits workThe Gemini 3 family of models, including 3 Flash and 3 Pro, helps power Gemini Apps. The model options available in Gemini Apps are:
- Fast:A powerful and efficient workhorse model designed for speed. It's ideal for everyday tasks like summarization and brainstorming.
- Thinking:A faster thinking model that balances speed and reasoning to quickly solve complex problems.
- Pro:An advanced model that excels at complex math and coding prompts with 3 Pro performance and reasoning. Pro has a deeper understanding across text, files, images and videos, plus major upgrades for coding and studying.
Tip:Thinking and Pro have usage limits that increase with Google AI subscription plans.
What you can do if you reach model limits:
If you reach your capacity limits for Thinking and Pro for a given period, you can continue the conversation with Fast in the same chat.
When your limit for Thinking or Pro resets, you can select it again. Learn how to switch between Gemini models .

What you can do when you reach a usage limitLimits may change without notice, including due to capacity constraints. When there’s a large increase in activity in Gemini Apps, we may change limits to maintain a high standard of quality.
If capacity changes, limits for users without a Pro or Ultra plan may be limited before users with a plan.
How to tell if you’re close to a limit & when it refreshesWhen you reach your limit, you can upgrade or wait until your limit refreshes.What is a context window?Gemini Apps will notify you when you're close to your limit based on your plan's level. When you reach your limit, Gemini Apps gives you another notification that tells you when your limit will refresh.Why you might want a larger context windowWhen you upload files to Gemini Apps, it needs to "read" the content to provide useful insights or answers. The context window is like the reading capacity. It determines how much content can be understood together at one time.
A larger context window allows Gemini to read and comprehend more. For example, with a 1M token context window, Gemini can understand up to 1,500 pages of text or 30,000 lines of code.
If you exceed the context window, this could lead to responses that don’t take into account all the content provided or miss connections or details throughout the content. This is most relevant for prompts that require attention to many details scattered throughout large files.
