The Level Up program is open to all games* and includes access to program benefits for games that offer a great experience - player continuity, rewarding player journeys, and cross device gameplay. Games can remain in the program and maximize benefits by meeting the user experience guidelines by each program milestone.
Player expectations and developer needs are always evolving, and the program is designed to evolve with them. User experience guidelines and benefits may be updated over time.

Program Benefits
Games that are part of the Level Up program can access a suite of benefits to accelerate business growth. This includes a new space to engage with players, access to content tools in Play Console, and enhanced discovery opportunities through editorial surfaces on the Play Store.

Getting started & enrollment
All games are enrolled into Google Play Games Level Up until the first program milestone in July 2026. After July 2026, games can stay enrolled in the program and maximize benefits by meeting the user experience guidelines. Starting early next year, you will start seeing your game’s program enrollment status in Play Console based on the user experience guideline validation criteria .
No, Google Play Games Level Up is not mandatory for games on Google Play. The program is a suite of tools designed to support your business growth, which you can choose to use if it's a right fit for your game.
User experience guidelines
Verification processes differ for each guideline and may include automated checks and manual reviews. You can learn about meeting each requirement from the documentation page .
Once a game meets all of the required user experience guidelines, it will be re-enrolled in the program after it passes the verification process.
While there are no exemptions at this time, we recognize that some user experience guidelines may not be suitable for all games. Player expectations and developer needs are always evolving, and guidelines may be updated over time. For any feedback on the user experience guidelines, please use this form .
To access program benefits, all games, including new ones, should follow the user experience guidelines. If your game is launching between September 2025 and August 2026 and you would like to request an extension for any of the user experience guideline milestones, please use this form to provide additional information.

To make it easier for players to discover great games, we’re incorporating the user experience guidelines into our editorial criteria. Games that are part of the program will have the opportunity for prominent boosts across the store including featuring opportunities, Play Points boosters, and quests.
