When it comes to navigating the rough seas of a breakup, everyone has their own way of coping.
For Kaitlyn Bristowe , the former “Bachelorette” star, this meant holding a “funeral service” and even staging a “fake burial” for her relationship with Jason Tartick .
It might sound dramatic, but for Bristowe, this symbolic gesture was a way to help her move on from a chapter of her life that she once thought would have a happy ending.

Kaitlyn Bristowe, 39, and Jason Tartick, 35, were once the picture of happiness.
The couple got engaged in May 2021 after two years of dating, delighting fans who had followed their love story from the beginning.
Their relationship seemed rock-solid, making it all the more shocking when they announced their separation in August 2023.
The news left many fans in disbelief, as they had been rooting for the couple to make it to the altar.
In a candid conversation on her podcast “Off the Vine,” Bristowe opened up about her unusual breakup ritual.
She admitted that while the burial didn’t completely erase the pain of the split, it did help shift her mindset, allowing her to start processing the end of the relationship in a more tangible way.
Breakups are never easy, and Bristowe’s was no exception.
After their split, Jason Tartick moved on and began a new relationship with content creator Kat Stickler in June 2023.
Here’s a short table summarizing key information about Kat Stickler:

Bristowe, who had always been open about her feelings, admitted that seeing Tartick with someone new stirred up a lot of emotions for her.
She confessed to experiencing uneasy feelings when she first heard the news, a sentiment she shared in a private Facebook group.
“It’s actually hurting more than you know and for reasons other than most know,” she wrote, revealing just how deeply the breakup affected her.
However, she later clarified that she wasn’t exactly “hurt” by Tartick’s new relationship but was working through “some held on anger and resentment.”
This honesty about her emotional state resonated with many of her fans, who appreciated her vulnerability during such a challenging time.
As if the breakup wasn’t complicated enough, Kaitlyn Bristowe recently added another layer to the story by revealing she was once romantically interested in Zac Clark , a fellow star from the “Bachelor” franchise.
Clark, 40, got engaged to Tayshia Adams, 33, after they met on her season of “The Bachelorette.”
Interestingly, Adams and Bristowe co-hosted “The Bachelorette” together in 2021, the same year Adams and Clark called it quits.
Bristowe and Clark were linked for several months earlier this year, sparking rumors and speculation.
At one point, Bristowe even had to clap back against a “nasty” rumor that she had cheated on Tartick with Clark. The rumor mill was churning, but Bristowe stayed strong, addressing the situation head-on.
During an appearance on the “U, Up?” podcast, Bristowe seemed to confirm that she and Clark had gone on at least one date, though she didn’t mention him by name.
She even went so far as to reach out to Clark’s ex, likely Tayshia Adams, to make sure there were no hard feelings.
According to Bristowe, she texted Adams, saying, “‘Hey, so-and-so DM’ed me and we’ve been chatting. I know you’re really happy in a relationship, so I don’t know if this would bother you or not.’”
However, Adams reportedly didn’t take the news well.
“She called and was very upset. She said, ‘I always knew you were a bad person and you’ve confirmed it. Your true colors are showing,’” Bristowe claimed, adding another twist to this already tangled web.
As of now, it’s unclear if Bristowe and Clark are still in contact or if their brief romance has fizzled out.
The pair was spotted together in June at an NHL game — a sighting that was made even more interesting by the fact that Tartick and Stickler were also attending the same event. Talk about an awkward encounter!
Meanwhile, Tayshia Adams seems to have moved on and found happiness with “Summer House” alum Luke Gulbranson. The two have been linked since spring 2023, and by all accounts, their relationship is going strong .
Kaitlyn Bristowe’s breakup with Jason Tartick may have marked the end of one chapter in her life, but it’s clear that the story is far from over.
From her unique breakup rituals to her complicated feelings about Tartick’s new relationship and her brief fling with Zac Clark, Bristowe’s journey is one that many can relate to.
Breakups are messy, emotional, and sometimes downright painful, but they’re also a chance to grow, heal, and eventually, move on.
And if a fake funeral helps with that process, then who’s to judge?
