It’s no secret that country music is in big trouble right now, and one of the biggest stories to watch is Zach Bryan . He’s a rising star, and his debut album, American Heartbreak, was a hit – it even made it to the top 10 on the Billboard !
One of the best tracks on the album is Something in the Orange, a touching ballad that shows off Zach’s real emotion and how well he can tell stories.
In this post, we’ll take a look at what something in the Orange means and how it fits into Zach Bryan’s music. We’ll also talk about how you can check out Bryan’s other songs .
Zach Bryan was born and raised in Oklahoma and made his name for himself on YouTube, where he started posting videos of himself singing his own stuff and covers of other people’s stuff.
He quickly gained a lot of fans, and in 2019, he put out his first album, DeAnn. It’s got a lot of different styles of music, like folk music, country music, and rock .
What makes Zach Bryan stand out is his honesty and integrity. He writes and performs from the heart. He draws inspiration from his own life and experiences.
His music isn’t polished or produced to the highest standard. It’s raw and honest. That’s what appeals to a lot of people who are tired of hearing the same old, tired-of-it-all songs over and over again.
In 2022, he released his eponymous debut album, which peaked at number five on the “Billboard” 200 and went platinum in less than half a year. He also released the number one country song “Something in The Orange,” which peaked at number 10 on the “Billboard” Hot 100.
The guitar riffs that begin the song set the mood for the remainder of the song. Instrumentation is sparse yet effective, with soft piano and strings contributing to the overall atmosphere.
Understated yet strong, Zach Bryan’s voice infuses this song with a feeling of discovery and wonderment. The instrumental section that builds towards the end of the song is one of the best parts of the entire album. It features some amazing guitar riffs as well as some heavy drums.
Bryan wrote the lyrics for Something In The Orange while sitting in a cabin in Wisconsin watching the sun go down.
He said the lyrics were inspired by his own personal loss and the difficulty of saying goodbye to a loved one.
Something In The Orange tells the story of a young man who is abandoned by his beloved. He can’t stop thinking about the woman he loves and how much he misses her.
He thinks that everything will be alright by the time the sun sets, but something tells him that they are not finished. He thinks of the dance they used to do on the old wooden floor and how her voice shook when she said something.
He wishes that she would come back to him. But he knows that he has killed himself with his own thoughts.
To her, he’s just a man. To him, she’s everything. He doesn’t know what to do or where to go without her. It’s like he’s ruining his own happiness by clinging to something that’s no longer there.
The second verse of the song is about how he perceives himself and how she perceives him.
The lyrics of the Something in the Orange song are straightforward yet powerful, showing Zach’s vulnerability and sincerity. Here are the best lines of the song:
There are two versions of Something In The Orange. The first is a stripped-down, soulful version that was recorded in Electric Lady Studio, New York City, with Eddie Spear producing and mixing.
This version is referred to as the “Z & E” version, which stands for “Zach and Eddie.” The second version features more instrumentation, such as strings and piano, produced and mixed by Ryan Hadlock in Bear Creek Studio, Washington.
Zach Bryan is notoriously secretive when it comes to speaking to the press, but he did appear on Apple Music to downplay the importance that is often given to his lyrics in ‘Something In The Orange.’
“People think it was about something deep and dark, and it wasn’t,” he says. “I was sitting in a cottage in Wisconsin, and I was thinking about the word orange, and I was looking out at the sunset, and I thought, ‘That’s a great story to write in a song.’”
