It might seem surprising, but Tom Cruise is still committed to his daughter Suri’s education despite their complicated relationship.
Now 18 years old, Suri has just started her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University ( CMU ) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania—a prestigious and pricey private school where tuition runs up to $65,000 a year.
But guess what? Neither Suri nor her mom, Katie Holmes, will have to worry about paying that hefty bill.
Keep reading for more details!
According to their 2012 divorce agreement, it’s Tom who’s on the hook for all of Suri’s educational expenses, and he’s sticking to it.
That 2012 divorce settlement made it clear: Tom’s financial responsibilities cover everything from Suri’s schooling to her medical and dental costs.
A close friend of Tom’s even mentioned to the Daily Mail, “Tom is indeed paying for Suri’s tuition; he’s always paid for her schooling and would never stop. He’s a stand-up guy.”
Even though they’ve drifted apart, Tom’s commitment to supporting Suri financially has never wavered.

Now, here’s where things get a bit more complicated.
Despite his financial commitment, Tom and Suri haven’t been seen together in public for over a decade. Their last public appearance as a father-daughter duo was way back in April 2013.
Since then, Suri has made some moves that suggest she’s distancing herself from her dad.
She’s even dropped the famous “Cruise” last name, choosing instead to go by “Suri Noelle” (Noelle being Katie’s middle name).
This change hints that Suri might be carving out her own identity, separate from her father’s Hollywood legacy.

Suri Cruise is diving into the classic college experience at CMU, and it’s quite the departure from her previous life in New York City.
She recently moved into her new dorm, with a little help from mom, Katie Holmes.
Instead of the luxurious three-bedroom apartment she’s used to in NYC, Suri is now living in a much more modest space, likely in Scobell House, an all-female dorm that houses just 88 students.
Life at Carnegie Mellon is a far cry from the comforts of home, but Suri seems ready for the change.
Her dorm is part of the WHeSco community, which also includes Henderson and Welch Houses.
These dorms are conveniently located near academic buildings and dining options, making it easier for students to navigate campus life.
Her dorm room may be simple, but it’s equipped with all the essentials: a single bed, a desk, and plenty of storage space.
Plus, there are common areas like TV lounges, study lounges, and kitchens where students can hang out and relax.

When it comes to food, Suri’s in luck.
CMU’s campus has plenty of dining options to keep students well-fed, whether they’re grabbing a quick bite between classes or settling in for a late-night study session.
She can start her day with a chocolate croissant and coffee at Au Bon Pain, or indulge in a hearty pasta dish at Ciao Bella.
And if she’s in the mood for something quick, The Edge Cafe offers everything from bagels to pizza.
While Suri is busy settling into college life, there’s a lot of buzz about what she might study.
Rumor has it she’s interested in acting and dance, following the same path her parents took.
Katie Holmes has hinted that Suri might want to break into showbiz after college, and she’s already shown some promise.
Suri contributed vocals to songs in two of her mom’s films, “Rare Objects” and “Alone Together.” Katie, who’s always been supportive of Suri’s creative side, said, “I’m really proud of her and I’m happy.”
Suri’s interest in the arts isn’t surprising, considering both her parents have been in the entertainment industry since their early 20s.
She even starred in a high school production of “The Addams Family,” and Katie has expressed her desire to include Suri in her film projects, saying, “I hope she always does something on my films.”
While Suri is getting settled at college, her dad, Tom Cruise, is busy doing what he does best—wowing audiences with his daredevil stunts.
Recently, he made headlines by performing a jaw-dropping stunt during the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics.
In true Tom Cruise fashion, he abseiled 115 feet down from the roof of the Stade de France, rode a motorcycle onto a plane, parachuted out, and even climbed the Hollywood sign.
This stunt was part of the handover to Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympics, showing that even at 61, Tom Cruise isn’t slowing down.
