Actor Woody Harrelson has decided to completely ditch his cellphone, aiming to escape the constant connectivity of modern technology.
In a recent episode of his SiriusXM podcast, “Where Everybody Knows Your Name,” which he co-hosts with Ted Danson , Harrelson opened up about his reasons for saying goodbye to his phone.
He shared that he doesn’t like being “readily available” all the time and prefers a more relaxed way of staying in touch.
Interestingly, Harrelson isn’t the only celebrity choosing to step back from technology.

His podcast co-host and former “Cheers” co-star, Ted Danson, humorously described Harrelson’s habit, saying, “Woody doesn’t have a phone. He’s one of those people who makes others carry a phone for him. If someone needs to reach him, they call someone else who is with him.”
Harrelson clarified that he prefers not to be constantly available and enjoys connecting with people in a more personal way, rather than through a device.
“I like to be in touch with people in a way, but I don’t like the appendage on my appendage,” Harrelson explained.

“I realized when they were talking to me, if I‘d be checking something, even if it would be the most valid thing ever… one of my kids would look at me and go, ‘I just feel like you’re disconnected. I don’t have your whole attention, Mom,’” Bell shared.
Since then, she’s made a conscious effort to put her phone away when her children are home, feeling more connected and present as a result.
Woody Harrelson is not alone in his decision to step away from technology.
Several other celebrities have also chosen to step away from the smartphone craze, opting for a more disconnected lifestyle amidst the constant buzz of social media and digital connectivity.
English singer- songwriter Ed Sheeran stopped using a phone in 2015.
He prefers to communicate through emails, which he checks only once a week.
Sheeran has been vocal about his stance against constant connectivity, finding it more peaceful to limit his digital interactions.
Canadian actor Michael Cera has never had much interest in smartphones.
He consciously chose not to use one, citing an early aversion to the devices.
Cera recalled a time when his friend was more focused on their Blackberry during lunch, leaving him feeling lonely and disconnected.
This experience solidified his decision to avoid smartphones.
