A new study suggests that jaundiced(黄疸に罹らせる)newborns have a greater risk of developing autism(自閉症)than other babies, though how the two conditions might be related remains unclear. While it is possible that brain development near birth might be most vulnerable to the high bilirubin levels that cause jaundice, is it also possible that children genetically predisposed to autism are also more vulnerable to jaundice. Previous studies investigating a possible link between the two conditions have yielded conflicting results.
