The Imperial Palace East Gardens is a spacious, sprawling garden in the center of Tokyo, and it’s the only part of the inner palace area that’s open to the public. Stroll through for a pleasant escape from the surrounding concrete jungle.
The Imperial Palace East Gardens is the only section of the inner palace area that is now open to the public. At a sprawling 210,000 m2, it’s probably better described as a park rather than a garden. Here, you’ll find Japanese and Western-style gardens, as well as the foundation of the castle’s former keep.
