استقبل الدكتور محمد عثمان الخشت رئيس جامعة القاهرة، السيدة كويكي يوريكو عمدة مدينة طوكيو اليابانية، والتي تخرجت من قسم الاجتماع بكلية الآداب جامعة القاهرة، ثم عملت في إدارة محافظة طوكيو وكوزيرة للدفاع في اليابان. وتطرق النقاش إلى العديد من مجالات التعاون وتبادل الخبرات التعليمية والبحثية ضمن نطاق التعاون المشترك، وتم الاتفاق على إعداد بروتوكول تعاون مشترك لتعزيز آفاق التعاون في مختلف المجالات. واسترجعت عمدة طوكيو، خلال اللقاء، الأعوام التي قضتها في جامعة القاهرة، معربة عن امتنانها لتلك الفترة وتأثيرها في حياتها وعلى ما وصلت إليه الآن. وقال الدكتور الخشت، إن جامعة القاهرة تعتز بخريجيها في كافة المجالات ومن جميع دول العالم، والذين يتولون العديد من المناصب القيادية في العالم، وتعتبر نجاحهم نجاحًا لجامعة القاهرة، مشيدًا بالتعاون المصري الياباني في العديد من المشروعات. وتعد عمدة طوكيو كويكي يوريكو، أبرز خريجي كلية الآداب جامعة القاهرة قسم علم الاجتماع حيث تخرجت عام 1976، واتجهت للعمل السياسي فأصبحت عضوا في مجلس الشيوخ ثم عضوا في مجلس النواب على مدار عدة دورات متتالية، كما شغلت منصب وزير الدفاع في اليابان، وانتخبت كأول سيدة تشغل منصب عمدة طوكيو.
Dr. Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, President of Cairo University, received Ms. Koike Yuriko, Mayor of the Japanese city of Tokyo, who graduated from the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, and then worked in the Tokyo Prefectural Administration and as Minister of Defense in Japan. Dr. Elkhosht said that Cairo University is proud of its graduates in all fields and from all countries of the world, who hold many leadership positions in the world, and considers their success a success for Cairo University, praising the Egyptian-Japanese cooperation in many projects. The Mayor of Tokyo, Koike Yuriko, is considered the most prominent graduate of the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, Department of Sociology, where she graduated in 1976. She turned to political work, becoming a member of the Senate and then a member of the House of Representatives over the course of several successive terms. She also held the position of Minister of Defense in Japan, and was elected as the first woman. She serves as the mayor of Tokyo.
