歌を楽しむときに、メロディ派と歌詞派があると聞いたことがある。そんな分類が正しいのかどうかわからないが、信じて分類すれば俺はあきらかに歌詞派に入る。
多くの人がそうであるように、俺も影響を受けた歌というのがあって、それは今でも大好きな歌だ。
どれだけの影響をこの歌が与えてくれたのかわからないが、俺の今の基本的な思想が間違いなくこの歌と同じであるということはいえると思う。
仕事で遅くなったあとに、眠気眼で「反戦老年委員会」のましまさんのエントリーや「そぞろ日記」のmiyauさんのコメントを考えながら読んでいたときに、なぜかこの歌が思い出された。
俺は一度だけ武道館の中に入ったことがあるのだけれど、それはプロレスを見にいったのではなく、ホイットニー･ヒューストンのコンサートを聴きにいったのだった。そして、恐らく、そのときにも歌われたであろう歌だ。
俺が本格的にこの歌に惚れるのは、もっと後になってからだったのだけれど。
