いつか新宿の某書店で買った洋書 "THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO COLOUR KNITTING TECHNIQUES" に、I-コードの応用例がいくつか載っていました。
そのひとつが、I-コードを編みつけながら伏せ止めする方法(Binding Off with I-Cord)。
1) End with a right-side row. At the beginning of the next row (wrong side), cast on 3-6 stitches for the cord. *Knit until 1 stitch remains of the cord, slip 1 knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over (this works the last stitch of the cord together with the first stitch to be bound off).
2) Slip all the stitches back to the left needle purlwise. Do not turn.
3) Repeat from * until all stitches across the row have been used and only the cord stitches remain. Cut yarn and pull end through all stitches. This is usually most successful with 3-4 stitches for the I-cord. For a quicker join, substitute K2tog tbl for the cumbersome skp.
