1月10日に配信された教材です。国連の新事務総長のスピーチのニュース。
このニュースを聞いてびっくりしたのは、日本の国連に対する経済負担の大きさ。それだけ負担していても発言権をもらえないのは、ちょっと外交手腕なさ過ぎ？っていうか、それを知らない私の時事関連の弱さ？

レポーターの Peter Heiinlein ははっきりした発音で聞きやすいけど、スピードは速いです。
Mr.Banの英語は、固い感じで、お世辞にも上手という感じではありません。それでも、自分の意見をきちんと英語で話せるわけで、その領域に行きたいなあと改めて、決意。

・国連が取り組む18の平和任務を展開していること（そのほとんどがアフリカ）

改めて、アフリカの情勢不安を思いました。イラクやアフガニスタン、チェチェンのニュースが多くて、アフリカに目が向いていませんでした、私。

この事実はあまり日本では話題になっていないのでは？もっとアピールしてもいいのに・・・

というわけで、このニュースでずいぶん国連のことがわかりました。
