Last Saturday one of my friends asked me to go to Daikodaki(大根焚) which is an annual event in this season. Some temples in Kyoto city serve daikon(Japanese white radish) or turnips boiled and seasoned to people. This event originated with famous priest, Sinran. I've never been to Daikodai. So、we went to Sagasyouten(嵯峨聖天) in Ukyou ward. It's a small temple but many people came to eat Daikon. We paid 900Yen and got two slices of daikon and one Age(揚げ). After that we enjoyed the autumn leaves near here.

Last Thursday I went to Takasima-city where is located in the west side of Biwa-lake with my Haiku friends. Speaking of Siga prefecture, it is closely connected with ancient Korean. Some of them were princes who came to Japan when their dynasty was beaten by other dynasty. We went to some shrines which is dedicated to them. They are not famous, but we enjoyed beautiful autumn leaves.2xxx-xxx-xxxxx 10:05 GMT+09:00 >:<楽天ブログの日記更新メールです><このメールに返信するとブログ記事が書けます><下書きする場合は、下記アドレスに送信して下さい><下書き用アドレス ><画像を添付することも出来ます>

Yesterday was miserable. My husband and I went to Nara to see two exhibitions by car.We reached there about 11. It's a little bit late to come. we could never find a parking lot. All of them were taken. As my husband has a very short temper, he got angry. And he said "Shit come back home"I thought I could see exhibitions alone if he dropped me.But I couldn't say it, because I ended up adding fuel to the flames.

Last Saturday was my grandchildren's birthday. They are twins and live in America. My daughter planed to have their 4 years birthday party at a play-ground. Last year their birthday-party was held in the backyard of their house. As a playground provide everything to need for a party, it is easier than having in one's house.I wanted to join it on Skype. But I couldn't because of a time difference.

As Shyogunduka (将軍塚)has the new sight seeing spot, my husband and I went there recently.Syorenin (青蓮院)removed the old Japanese building there and installed the famous Buddhist painting named Aofudo(青不動) inside it.Aofudo was made at middle of 11th century. It is national treasure and not usually shown to the public. Now we can see it until the beginning of December. After seeing it, we enjoyed to look down the view of whole Kyoto City on the wooden stage like Kiyomizu-no-butai(清水の舞台)Syorenin's stage is bigger than Kiyomizu's.

My my husband & I went to the Aeon Cinemat in Kumiyama to see “Les Miserables" yesterday. It's a great and the finest one among movies I have ever seen. The story became simple in spite of its intricate plot. So it's easy to understand. I didn't see the blue sky on the screen because it's a gloomy story. All of actors have voices, so I became entranced.

I went to Otani Uni. to attend a lecture yesterday. I'm an auditor of "Culture of the South Asia". And it's about Tibet in this term. I'm interested in Tibet because I support a Tibetan child in exile as a foster mother. I wanted to know her background and learned a lot about Tibet in this lecture. By the way, do you know that the Tibetan exiled government is in Dharamsala innorthern India. The government built a lot of schools for children. It was in 1996 that I learned about it. When I stayed in Melbourne, Australia, one of my Australian friends said to me " I'm going to India to teach English to Tibetan exiled children as a volunteer" I was very surprised and said “What? What is Tibetan exiled children?" It gave me a start in being interested in Tibet. iPhoneから送信

I went to the Kyoto Isetan department to see the exhibition of Yamamoto Taro’s work last week.Yamamoto Taro is a painter not an actor. He shows us a kind of Japanese style paintings, which are painted in Japanese style painting's equipment. His paintings remind me of Andy Warhor who painted a famous《Campbell Soup》.Yamamoto has painted an uncle Kenta as a folding screen for the Kentucky fried Chicken Company. It seems to set on a stage on the day of an entrance ceremony for the Kentucky fried Chicken Company. I happened to see Yamamoto who was wearing Yukata at the exhibition hall. He looked like a young comic storyteller(rakugoka)

Last week my husband and I went to see a movie. Its title was “The day the earth stood still."I booked it that started at 10 o’clock, so a few people watched it.I’ve heard the movie was remade. The first movie was filmd about 50 years ago. At that movie aliens came to the earth to let us stop making nuclear weapons. It reflected the situation which the world was under the cold war.At this movie an alien(Keanu Reeves) came to save the earth. He was thinking how to save the earth. He had to clear the cause for the sick earth. It reflected the fact that human caused grobal warming and so on.And the alien thought that he cleared human to save the earth.I was surprised the paradoxical situation. And I thought human was arrogant.Because we don’t think that we belong to the earth or we rent the earth free of charge. We think the earth is our own object and it exists for us.Anyway I enjoyed this movie.

My friend and I took my American fried, Dorothy to Uji last Thursday. As three of us were interested in Japanese culture, we stayed at the Byodoin temple for 3 hours. Especially Dorothy was glad to see the phoenix hall and the temple's museum. We met many forein tourists who had been led by tour guides. They were French, German and so on.(We could know their nationalities because the tour guides spoke French, German and so on.) I supposed that strong Euro made them come to Japan easily. After that we went to the Taihouan(対鳳庵)to experience tea ceremony. The Taihouan is the Uji-city's teahouse and has 3 tea-ceremony rooms. One big tatami room was filled to capacity. It was occupied by the German group with tour guide. But I've heard there was still room that one person could take a seat. So I asked the staff of the Taihouan if she could arrange for Dorothy to enjoy the formal tea ceremony with German people. Luckily she did for her. So we left Dorothy and went to another room with chairs which doesn't demand to fold one's legs under oneself. We enjoyed having a powdered green tea at that room. After Dorothy finished her experience of tea-cerempny, she said to us that some German women put the bad mouth on her in German. Because Dorothy looked like a intruder to them.By the way, Dorothy speaks German very well, she understood their conversation.

My husband and I went to Nara yesterday, because the morning news said that Hokkeji(法華寺)was performing the religious event named Hinaesiki(雛会式) for one week (from the 1st to the 7th of April).Though this temple is one of my favorite temples, I didn't know about this event. When I entered the main building, I was surprised with a lot of small figures, which were arranged in front of the most important image of Buddha at this temple. All of them were named Zenzaidouji(善財童子). Zenzaidouji was a boy who wanted to study the Buddha's teachings and visited to 53 Buddhism leaders to seek truth. Many Buddhists respect him for his journey of it.These figures looked cute and like dolls for children. It was said that this display was the original form of Hinakazari(雛飾り)at the doll's festival.*This picture is based on the picture card which I bought at the temple.

There are two big drooping cherry trees here. One of them is 280 years old. And the famous drooping cherry tree in the Maruyama Park in Kyoto city relates to this tree. The cherryblossoms were falling from the tree. So they must have been in full bloom last weekend. We could enjoy many flowers (magnolia, camellia、rape blossoms and so on) besides cherry trees.

The day before yesterday, I watched TV news, which said Vietnam had the ceremony in commemoration of the Son My massacre(the 40th anniversary) that happened on the 18th of March in1968 during the Vietnam War. 504 innocent locals in Son-Mi were shot to death, killed by grenades, or thrown into wells by US soldiers. Most of them were old people, women and children. I remembered that I had seen the standing signboard, which included numbers of 40 and 1968 in Ho Chi Minh City during I was staying.I didn’t understand Vietnamese, but the standing signboard might be written about that commemoration.*My old friend said to me, “This board might show Tet Offensive, because its strategy was operated in 1968.” I thought he was right.

But they were interesting, too. I was excited at seeing “mummies”After the exhibition, we went to see the Luminarie.Since I have long wanted to do it, I was a happy camper. We donated several coins to “Thank you ¥100”box.I wish the Luminarie to continue forever, because it makes us remember victims of the Hannsinn Earth Quake in our prayers.

It was uniqu. He must have drawn on instinct. Itlooked free from restraint. The change of his pictures from youth to old reminded me of Picasso.

at Yamaguni village The Jidaimatsuri-festival performed today in Kyoto.I went to see it last year because I got the seat in front of the Heiann Shrine. After that I wrote the following essay as my homework in my English class. 《Anecdote of the Jidaimatsuri-festival 》 You know the Jidaimatsuri-festival, don’t you? It’s one of three famous festivals in Kyoto. But the reason why was launched by was different from other festivals. It started to inspire Kyoto that lost its position as the capital of Japan at the beginning of Meiji era. In the festival, many parties walk in a parade for past memories of Kyoto. The procession dates back from the end of Edo era to the beginning of Heian era.And each parties wear costumes of each period. By the way, do you know who the honorable first party is? The head of parade is the military band that fifes and beats drums. It looks like showing the dawn of newborn Japan to us. It’s one of my favorite parties in it and always reminds me of young men who lived in the period of political change. Actually, there were many young guys (mainly farmers) who joined the reformation of Meiji in the mountain village named YAMAGUNI(山国) near Kyoto. After some battles, they marched to Edo on the Tokaidou (東海道) as a member of the imperial army, while playing drums and fifes at the front of it. Finally they came back to their rice fields and lived peacefully. When Kyoto began to organize the Jidaimatsuri-festival, they could be allowed to join it with their original costume and got the first line. But they couldn't do it in several years as they didn't leave from their rice field in harvest time and didn’t manage enough money to go to Kyoto for the festival every year. Then they asked Yase village (which is near Kyoto and familiar with them) to join it instead of them. After making their exit from the festival, they has been continuing to parade in their own village for homage of their ancestors so far. My husbandand I sometimes go there to see it. I prefer the parade in golden ears of rice rather than it in downtown.

Last week I went to Tanakurahiko Shrine(棚倉孫神社) in Kyotanabe city. They are famous for their uniqu portable shrine which is decolated with many kind of vegitables. It's called zuiki-mikoshi(瑞饋神輿). I supposed that it is named after using a lot of zuiki (芋茎).Zuiki are satoimo’s stalks.they are used for roof of the portable shrine, which framework is decolated with rice, beans, eggplant, small red eggplant, chestnut, pepper, and so on.There is a hououu(鳳凰)on the top of them. Its tail was made with Japanese pampas grass and its comb was made with cockscomb. It must have taken a lot of time for village people to make them. As It is made every other year, I could see nothing but an old dried one last year. I enjoyed a new one this time.

Yesterday I bought a electric takoyaki machine. I had a iron mold for making takoyaki before, but I had rarely used it. I couldn't make a good shape of takoyaki with it because it was difficult to control a fire. Then I threw it away. But I'm a Kansai person who feels lonely apart from a Takoyaki machine. Many years ago the TV program named nandemo tannteidann researched if almost all Osaka people have takoyaki machines. The result was Yes. At every house which a detector visited, they took their takoyaki machines out of cupboards. Anyway I got a electric takoyaki machine. It's better than a iron one. I can enjoy making takoyaki from now on.

Today is the equinox day.Since my husband & I wanted to see cluster amaryllis, we went to the Touonosato(当尾の里) where is in the country of Kyoto prefecture.Touonosato is nearer Nara than Kyoto and has linked up with Nara for a long time. There were a lot of small temples in this area more than 1000 years ago which were built for senior priests of Todaiji. They lived here in their late life. But almost all temples didn't remain nowadays. Only Joururiji keeps an building and a pagoda so far.As it has been hot in this summer, we couldn't find a heavy growth of cluster amaryllis. We gave up to see them and visited Joururiji.Fortunately, we could see the image of healing Buddha who is in the threestories pagoda. We are allowed to see it for several days in a year.I like this temple very much because I think the chief priest has a good vision and makes a effort to inform Buddha's teachings.Whenever I visit this temple, I think “What a wonderful temple this is!”

( I thought it was better to say “flying under water”. ) There was a tank that is a kind of tunnel made of glass inside of the building. We could observe penguins at close range, as if we were in the water.I realized that Penguin is a bird, not an animal. They were moving smoother and faster in the water. They looked freer than they were in the ground.

When I got the map of Matsuyama in the information center, I found the place named the Russian Graveyard. Though I didn’t know about it, I was interested in it. In early Meiji era, there was a prison camp for Russian soldiers who held captive in the Russian-Japanese War. They were allowed to spend their days in Matuyama relatively freely. But unfortunately nearly 100 Russian soldiers had passed away, and they were buried here. I went this Graveyard by Madonna bus. (Madonna bus is an old-fashioned bus that runs its original route included some historical sites. We can get on and off at every bus stop we want to do.)When I entered the graveyard, I was impressed with it. It was calm and clean. It was well taken care of to this day. Even now, volunteer students regularly sweep out the tombstones of foreign soldiers who were not able to return to their home country. Nearly 100 Japanese style tombstones were lined regularly and put flowers and oranges. This scenery touched my heart.

After getting up a long steep stone stairs, we saw a beautiful red building of shrine called Hatiman-dukuri(八幡造り).And I found fortune slips in English inside it.I drew it. It was the following.Your Fortune: ExcellentIn winter all are dry and withered on the mountain, we are looking forward to the coming spring, when they will come into bloom.(Everything seems not to go well, but if you are honest and faithful and never get tired of anything. You will soon find away out of the difficulties. Be patient.)Wish: Be patient, and it will be fulfilled.

After Hemingway's death, the book named “ the moveable feast” was published, in which he described about his friends at that time. In fact we don’t know how to cook them except using for stew. But Howard said that he liked them very much and used to help his grandma with the work in the kitchen in his childhood. One day she taught him how to prepare Brussels sprouts for cooking while she wsa singing a song that showed how to do.“Take off their jackets and put kisses on their bums!”I thought that the song's so funny to make children delighted.

I sometimes go to the imperial Palace in Kyoto as known as the Kyoto Gosyo to enjoy its wonderful atmosphere while walking outside. At that time I can see several buildings that were constructed in 1855 after old ones were burnt down. But it is not allowed for us to enter. For conservation and preservation purpose, the fall and interior panel paintings have almost never been publicly displayed. Anyway, we could see a lot of screen paintings first. Tease treasured works were elegant and colorful. So I could date back to 19C.

I went to the R University to attend the extension lecture yesterday. The lecturer was Mr. Ippou Kosen, the priest who lives in Hirosima. He has presided over NPO named “Amida-no-mori” which means “The forest of the Amitabha Buddha”He talked us about their purpose. He and his company have been to China (Neimenggu Zizhiqu・内モンゴル) for planting trees in the desert. They already planted 3 million trees so far. It contributed to an improvement in green house warming as well as the friendship between China and Japan.I was impressed with his action.

Do you know about a GINKOU? It is an outing for making haikus. While walking, watching and thinking, we make a lot of haikus. After a GINKOU, we have a meeting called a KUKAI (haiku gathering).Today, our teacher and 29members went to the Gokoku shrine (護国神社) and the Imperial Palace (京都御苑)in Kyoto city.It was fantastic because I could feel a breath of spring in the air. As the weather was nice, nursery school teachers let their infants play on the grass under big trees in the Imperial Palace. It did my heart good!By the way, the Gokoku shrine is famous for their wild boar's story. There are many stone guardian boars instead of stone guardian dogs in the shrine ground. Since this is the Year of the Boar in Chinese astrology, many worshippers have come here.Anyway I had 2 good haikus that were praised by my teacher.
