I wish you, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
Dear F-San,
I wish you
A Happy New Year and a Happy New Starting job at the department 〇.
Have you been to Atlanta U.S.A by coincidence, haven’t you?!
It is a nice Christmas present for you, even though short staying to
catch your baggage.
< It was a funny and a strange feeling to be for the first time in that
country>
I understand your funny and strange feeling.
We often see these funny and strange happenings during our trips.
One hand, they are bad experiences, the other hand, they are good
memories.
As I told you before, a young Japanese man I met at Bangkok Airport
by chance, left his baggage with his passport, traveler’s check and so
forth, on the bench near a toilet.
Then he went into the toilet only for 3 minutes.
Nobody noticed his act but some baggage thieves.
Oh!! What a miserable result!!
He lost all his valuable things except his life.
He had saved money for the trip for 2 years working as a deliver driver.
And he lost it all at a momentary rest.
I tell you another baggage trouble at Bangkok Airport as well.
A middle-aged man suddenly came to me and asked if I knew his
camera and movie camera.
Of course I replied to him I never knew it.
I saw him for the first time in my life.
He told me he was a news reporter in the local paper.
He absolutely needed his cameras, because he could not work without
them.
So he put his bag in which there were cameras, films, articles and so
on, behind his chair at a mini bar for a rest at the airport.
As you see, alcohol drinks are cheap at the airport because of duty-
free.
I guess he took some cups of strong whisky, and then he quite drunk.
He didn’t find to get drunk himself, as a result, he entirely forgot his
valuables.
When he checked his bill, he found no bag behind his chair.
Oh!! Alas!!
Where is my bag? He asked everybody at the bar.
Of course nobody knew it. At least they said “No”
I guess some waitress did notice it !! But they replied “I don’t know”
He shouted to me that he would absolutely write this scandal on his
paper.
I could smell strong liquor on his breath. I thought it was only his
excuse.
Both of them didn’t realize at all that there were great differences
between Japan and Thailand, especially concerning the security of
valuables, even your life.
I would like to omit good memories in my trips, because this mail will
be too long.
The general election was held 16th Dec. in Japan.
The LDP won a sweeping victory at it. The LDP took about 300 seats.
The Komei Party took about 20 seats.
The both party totally took 320 seats (in the Lower House all seats 480).
Mr. Abe had been elected the new president of Japan Liberal
Democratic Party right before the general election.
The Abe Cabinet now makes a coalition Cabinet where the LDP and
New Komei Party form the new Japanese government.
The Abe Cabinet wants to promote some new nuclear power plants.
Beside it wants to operate old nuclear power plants again which are
now stopping because of the big disaster in Fukushima.
Most of the LDP members of the House of Representatives want to
reoperate stopping old plants and build new ones.
Their main reason is to furnish electric power to companies safely and
stably.
What?! For supplying electricity safely and stably???
By nuclear plants???
All of them can not face directly Fukushima disaster.
As you say “we are still taking the old nuclear rubbish from surrounding
countries to burry it somewhere in our country's ground!!!
That will become a big problem soon”
Yes, your opinion is quite right!!
We can not find what to do the old nuclear rubbish yet !!
The Japan Democratic Party promises to do away nuclear plants until
the end of 2030.
But they suffered a crushing defeat at the previous general election.
They lost about 180 seats (from 230 to 54).
Oh!! Damn it!!
They could not keep their promise to the JDP supporting people.
I really disappointed this result.
I’m sure new LDP government will operate old nuclear plants and build
new plants.
Another main purpose of the LDP government is to change the
Constitution of Japan.
The Constitution of Japan declares that the Japanese people have
renounced war.
The LDP government wants to throw it away. Instead, they want to
admit the right of self-defense by the National Army, not by “the Self-
Defense Force”
That means when LDP government decides to break out war, they can
do it.
Needless to say, I absolutely object another war.
If another war breaks out, we will be ruined.
We (except LDP members) know The Pacific War (1941-1945) broke out
when Japan, militant nation, tried to form its own empires such as
Manchukuo.
Let’s make love, not war. Make love is much better than war off
course.
“Oh, interesting!! Such a nice low tax!!! hahaha, at least it seems low
to me. We have to pay 19% cons. tax, already!!”
Wow!! Consumption tax is 19% in your county.
Consumption tax will be 8% in Japan next year.
I checked it in your country by Wiki.
Consumption tax concerning medicines, foods, books, newspapers,
magazines,etc. is 7%, isn't it?
I read almost all menu of breakfast in a normal home are 7% taxed
except mineral water 19%.
The proportion of the consumption tax to a national tax in Japan was
24.6% to a national tax in 2006.
Anyway look at the following comparison, please.
What do you think of it?
Do you think the consumption tax in Japan is too low compared with
your country?
The consumption tax / the proportion of the cons.tax to a national tax
France 19.6% / 47.1%(2006)
Germany 19.0% / 33.7%(2006)
Italy 20.0% / 27.5%(2006)
England 17.5% / 23.7%(2003)
Japan 5.0% / 24.6%(2006)
Japan 10.0% / 51.2%(2015?)
Oh!! Let’s change the topics.
< I have applied for another job at the department for 〇〇>
I wish your application will be successful.
Well F-san, take care of yourself, cause working on board always
dangerous.
Best wishes from here a small village in the country to your place at
the Persuasion coast.
ではFさん, くれぐれもお体大切に。
さようなら。
