Dodgers pitcher Shohei Ohtani started as the leadoff hitter and designated hitter in the away game against the Guardians on the 27th (28th Japan time). He hit a home run in his third at-bat, marking his 20th of the season. With three consecutive home runs, he has now hit 20 home runs for five consecutive years since 2021 when he was with the Angels.

In his first at-bat, he was aiming to hit a home run as the leadoff batter in the first inning for the third consecutive game, but he struck out looking and it was not a great achievement. In his second at-bat, with two outs and a runner on third base in the second inning, he was walked, and boos spread throughout the stadium.

In his third at-bat, he hit a great sound and hit a powerful ball into the left field stands. The ball had an initial speed of 104.5 miles (about 168.2 kilometers), a distance of 362 feet (about 110.3 meters), and an angle of 39 degrees, and reached the stands.

Ohtani's sixth 20th home run surpasses Matsui Hideki's record for the most by a Japanese player. His 55th game with the team marks his fastest time reaching 20, beating the 68 games he achieved in 2023.

He is currently leading the major leagues in home runs, two ahead of Kyle Schwarber (Phillies) and Aaron Judge (Yankees). He has been in great form in May, hitting his 13th, and there are high hopes he will hit more than 60 home runs this season.
