昨年のリスニング入門にでてきたそうです。
It looks familiar but I can't place it .
どこかで見た事があるけれど、はっきり思い出せない。
place--〔通例、否定文、疑問文で〕～を(いつどこで見たかなど)正確に思い出す、～を見分ける。
Thank God he couldn't place me .
I drove from college to New York with him five years ago...and it was the longest night of my life.
５年前、彼といっしょに大学からニューヨークまで車で行ったのよ。
私の人生で一番長い夜だったわ。 (恋人たちの予感)
he did smell a faint odor - it smelled familiar, then he placed it - almonds
