modBIOS導入でT61のSensing Errorを回避

メインノートから退役したT61(6435-5BJ)。退役したので、WUXGA液晶からWSXGA+光沢液晶LG.PHILIPS製「LP154W02」(FRU P/N：13N7150）に換装、CPUもCore2Duo/T9300からP8300に換装した。

　このT61、T9300搭載時、起動させると「Thermal sensing error」が表示されたが、[ESC]キーで回避させてだましだまし使ってきた。P8300ならこのエラーも出ないじゃないかとCPU換装したのだが…。（換装のついでにCPUファンのクリーニングも実施しました。）

　ところが、P8300でも「Thermal sensing error」が出現…。

　調べてみると、次のようなページを発見した。

　I just tried to upgrade the T7300 CPU on my T61 with a T8300 from a R61 i got in office, but once i powered up the T61 with the T8300, i genthe Lenovo Logo and then i get the error " thermal sensing error "| and then it powers off itself.

　From what i’ve heard, temperatures in T8xxx and T9xxx processors are being measured by digital temperature sensors, DTS. At least some notebooks which have a Merom CPU - the T7300 is a Merom CPU - read the temperature from an older, analogue type of temperature sensor. Penryn will not work reliably in such notebooks. If your notebook tries to use the older type of temperature sensor, this might be the cause for the error message which you see.

　このエラーは、BIOSを最新にしても回避不可能で、modBIOS導入しか道がないようである。（同じT61でもシスボによっては、Penrynコアに対応しているものもあるみだいだが…。）

※BIOSは最新の2.30(7LETD0WW)。しかし[Sensing Error」は回避できない。

　こうなったら、modBIOSで。

　そこで最終手段はmodBIOSの導入。これはエラー回避のために改変されたBIOSをThinkPad本体に書き込むという、とてもリスキーが方法だが、これからHDDを換装するのにためらわなくてすむという夢のような「蜜」でもある。

　BIOSの変更は、CDを焼いてbootする方法があるが、CDによるBIOS変更では最新のBIOSにアップデートしてしまっているT61では、 BIOSをダウンデート（BIOSのバージョンを古く）することができない。ここは、Windows上で実行する方法をとる。
