【The Yamataikoku Kingdom and Earth Renaissance】
~The Role of the Priestess Conveying the Divine Word~

I too was involved in the beginning of this nation called Japan, and I am involved once more at its end.
The truth is, I was born into this nation of Japan only at that time.

In the sense of witnessing the passing of this civilization, the reality is that I was granted birth this time.

Back then, the nation was still a loose confederation centered around the Kyushu region.
Though it brought together various tribes and powerful clans, it was a republic-like entity where many warlords gathered under the absolute authority of Lord Hyuga. It was not a truly unified nation, like one unified by Lord Yamato.

Furthermore, its proximity to the continent meant it constantly lived in fear of its influence, existing within such a political system.
Even with men holding the reins of power, the nation remained unstable. Warlords vying for supremacy arose everywhere, the country fractured, and the people endured endless suffering amidst constant conflict.

This seems to me to be the very essence of the Yamato country, the Japanese nation—the way of this Yamato country, this Japan, as intended by the Great Sun Goddess Amaterasu.

After Lady Hyūga passed away, her younger brother took a new wife and succeeded her. Yet, as soon as a man took center stage, as if waiting for this moment, the warlords began to run amok, and the nation fell into disarray.

At that time, it was said that if a woman who could hear the divine message were chosen, the country might be pacified. Thus, I, who had been training as a shrine maiden, was called upon once more, and so I came to bear this mission.

At that time, while receiving the words of the gods, I was told to protect this country as the foundation for what would later become Japan.

It was also said that by protecting this land, the long history of Japan would begin.

For this reason, I conveyed the words of the heavenly realm to many people, to the chieftains of each tribe, to the military commanders. “Please lend us your strength,” I pleaded.
“I know full well that you possess great power,” I told them.
“But what we desire is for the people of this land to live happily within a great love.”
“Please, lend us your strength for this purpose.”

I merely conveyed the words of the heavenly realm.
Perhaps I never possessed the absolute, charismatic power like Lord Hyuga.

But at that time, precisely because it did not settle, I believe this person's position is no different in the sense that they were driven forth as a shrine maiden to convey the words of the gods.
This person, too, I think, probably never wished to come forth of their own accord.

My own situation was the same.
Had the nation been pacified by this, had the military commanders united their strength and acted accordingly, it might have led to the Japanese martial tradition and the foundation of Japan's long, long history. But instead, severe internal divisions, and threats from the continent nearly tore apart Yamato and Yamataikoku. It was then that I was driven forth by the divine command, happened to stand in the position of Queen, and accepted that mission. That was the reality.

From Toyo's 'Prayer of Amaterasu'
