[From the Goddess of Love to Modern Women] ⑤—We Choose the Environment into Which We Are Born According to Our Life’s Theme—

You may have been thinking about the concept of a political marriage I mentioned earlier. When I met my husband, it was, in fact, an arrangement made by my parents. Considering the relationship between nations and all other factors, in order to ensure the survival of the Habsburg dynasty, it was absolutely necessary to place a woman on the throne. My husband was chosen for that very purpose.

However, in that context, it was not merely that I accepted my fate; rather, it was already predetermined in the divine realm that things would unfold in this way. Everything is predetermined and unfolds accordingly. There is not a single coincidence.

Therefore, I wish to tell you that you must recognize there are no coincidences in your parent-child relationships either, and that you need the resolve to firmly accept your own destinies.

When you hear the term “political marriage,” it may seem extremely unwelcome. However, anticipating the era in which such arrangements would become necessary, I have chosen partners with whom I felt a connection and whom I wished to be with. When the time came, I steered matters so that they would proceed in that direction—that was the reality of the situation.

My husband’s marriage was also arranged in this manner. And as for my children, although I proceeded with their marriages in a manner very much like political marriages and sent them off to various countries, some of my daughters adapted well to their situations, while others did not.

As a result, some of them became unhappy, while others found happiness. There were daughters who, even when sent to harsh places, found happiness in their own way there. On the other hand, there were those who, feeling unfulfilled, led dissolute lives. The same was true for my sons. Even when I spoke to them, some insisted on pursuing their own political agendas, and our views simply did not align.

However, within that context, I—as myself—carried out what I was meant to do, and as for the children of the next generation, through the environment they were given—whether it was 10 out of 16 or all 16—even the children who passed away earlier had lives of their own. But those who were born this time had a specific purpose they wished to fulfill in that environment; to accomplish that, they chose to come into such circumstances.

In that context, they find their own happiness. By coming to terms with it—even in an environment that might seem terrible at first glance—if they can find joy in the happiness gained there, and live their lives using that as nourishment for their souls, as a means of growth, and as gratitude toward God, along with gratitude and love for those around them, then I do not believe that the fact it was an arranged marriage can serve as an excuse to claim it was a source of unhappiness or the cause of all misfortune.

And within those connections—though of course there isn’t just one single connection—among several of them, there was a life theme that I had chosen and planned for myself in order to fulfill the spiritual practice I wished to undertake in this lifetime. Within that context, grumbling and complaining to the other person is completely out of place. That is what I wish to say.
