No matter how hard you try or how thoroughly you prepare in advance, why doesn’t your situation ever seem to improve?
When you find yourself in such a situation, try pausing for a moment.
That’s because there’s a strong possibility you’re pressing the “accelerator” and the “brakes” at the same time.
The “engine” that propels you forward is directly connected to your “true self,” and its energy comes from a spirit of adventure, a thirst for discovery, and your interests and curiosity.
However, the “brakes” are an energy directly linked to the “fear” of the material mind—it is not the energy that creates the future. Since it’s an energy connected to fears about “how things should be,” it becomes a “defense” mechanism to protect yourself.
Therefore, spinning your wheels refers to a state where you’re pressing the “accelerator” and the “brake” at the same time—for example, wishing to “succeed” while simultaneously being on guard against “failure,” or desiring to “be recognized” while deep down harboring a fear of “being hindered.”
Thus, actions motivated by “fear” are in survival mode. This is the brake.
Action motivated by “creation” is in creation mode. This is the engine.
