Today I got a call to participate in a Japanese home cooking class that will be held at a town hall in mid June as a volunteer interpreter. The other day, I registerd myself at our city's international foundation as a cultural & living volunteer interpreter. I happen to come across this information when I was reading the city journal. Why did I decide to become a volunteer interpreter? Through out this activity, I wanted to help myself maintain and improve my language levels, as a Japanese, I wanted to rediscover Japanese cultures and life and I also wanted to help foreigners who are in need of help. As a child, I was always moving in/out of Japan because of my dad's transfer. That why I know from my experiences the toughness and hardships of living in an environment living abroad, where you can't understand a language or culture with no aqauaintances at all.
Although my help might be very small, that's why I want to help others just like they had helped me!
