数年ぶりのNY。
第一声は活気のある街で、帰ってきたような気がするだった。
それは私もなんとなくわかる気がするんだよなぁ～。
長く住んでいたりすると、なんか自然とホームグランドに戻ってきたような懐かしいカンジ。
私は8年。母達は父の二度目の駐在赴任にもついていったので通算15年ほど。
妹はそれ以上。
目的としていた友達のお見舞いは友達のリクエストで毎日会っているらしい。
本当は家に泊まってくれ！と言われていたらしいが、さすがに病人に気を使わせられないと

広いNYで昔の友人に偶然出会って、「ミセス○○、あなたここで何してるの？？」
と驚かれたり、行きつけのコーヒーショップに行ってみたら、まだ同じウェイターがいて
コーヒーを顔馴染みということでタダにしてもらったり。
大都会なのに、そんなやさしい一面があるNYを私達、家族は本当に大好きです。
NJもそう。小さな町だったので、みんながみんなを知っている。
昔住んでいた家や、馴染みのある景色。もちろん友人達の写真もたくさん持って
帰るからと楽しみ！にしとけなんて言っていた。
病気療養中の友達に母が私が夏休みに会いにくるというと、本当か？！いつ？！
と心待ちにしていたという。
もう今年は何がなんでも時間を作って、渡米しなくちゃね。

It's been few years since their last visit.
The first word I heard was "It's a busy city and it's like being at home."
I think I can understand what they mean.
When you live in the same area for a very long time, it naturally becomes
your home.

my family went along. My parents had lived there for almost 15 years and my sister
even more.
They had been seeing our ill friend everyday, which was the big purpose of the trip.
Our friend had asked my family to stay at her home while their visit,
but my mom turned her down. My mom decided that our friend was too ill and she didn't want her to be troubled.
So they take a bus everyday from NYC and visit NJ.
They had few encounters in wide NYC.
They met an old friend coincidentally. He was very surprised to see them and said,
"Mrs.○○, what are you oing here??"
They also went to a coffeeshop that we used to go often.
The waiter who worked there was still working there and remembered my family.
They got a free coffee because they were old cutomers.
NYC is a big city. But NYC has a kind phase of the city and my family and I all love
NYC very much.
Same with NJ. The town that we lived was very small.
It was so small that everyone knows everyone.
My mom told me that they took many photos of the house we used to live in and scenaries
and friends. She told me to look forward to seeing these photos.
My mom told our friend that I may be visiting her this summer.
She asked her when I was coming and seems to be looking forward to seeing me.
So I really must make my summer plans to visit the U.S.
