ヒュンダイ初の高級FRセダン、「ジェネシス」がデトロイトモーターショーでついに発表されました。

4年の歳月をかけて開発されたジェネシスは、メルセデス・ベンツEクラスやBMW5シリーズ、レクサスGSなどをベンチマークに開発されたそうです。

ボディサイズは全長4975mm、全幅1890mm、全高1480mmで、ベンチマーク各車よりひと回り大きく、レクサスLSの標準ボディより若干短い程度。
堂々としたサイズです。

パワーユニットは最高出力262ps/6200r.p.m.、最大トルク32.2kg-m/4500r.p.m.の3.3リッターV6と、290ps/6200r.p.m.、36.5kg-m/4500r.p.m.を発揮する3.8リッターV6の2種類を設定。
さらに年内には、4.6リッターのV8ユニットが追加投入される予定だそうです。

「走行性能はBMW5シリーズをベンチマークにした」というその走りはどの程度のものか気になります。
今後、日本を含めた海外市場でレクサスのライバルとなっていくかどうか。

ヒュンダイは、13日におこなわれたデトロイトモーターショーのプレスカンファレンスで、ラグジュアリーFRセダンの『ジェネシス』（GENESIS）を発表した。

実車登場前のビデオ映像では、BMW『5シリーズ』、メルセデス・ベンツ『Eクラス』、レクサス『GS』、インフィニティ『M』（日本で日産『フーガ』）が登場。それぞれを品評しているなかで、ジェネシスが登場して圧倒的なパフォーマンスと存在感をアピールするという挑戦的なもの。

「走行性能はBMW5シリーズ、居住空間は同『7シリーズ』をベンチマークにした」とLee Hyun-Soonリサーチ・プロダクト部部長は述べる。新開発の4.6リットルV8エンジンは365hpを発揮、他社の同クラスエンジンと比べても優れた性能をアピールする。

ヒュンダイとしては、このジェネシスで北米市場での高級車分野における地位確保を目指す構えだ。
