エクストリームが1990年のアルバム『ポルノグラフィティ』で発表した楽曲です。
マサチューセッツ州ボストンで1985年に結成されたハードロックバンドで、翌年から2年連続でボストン・ミュージック・アワードの最優秀ハードロック／ヘヴィメタル・アクトを受賞し、1989年にアルバム『エクストリーム』でデビューしました。
ボーカルのゲイリーが1997年にサミー・ヘイガーに代わって ヴァン・ヘイレン のボーカルとなったりしてバンドは自然消滅しましたが、2007年に再結成して現在も活動中です。
日本にも度々ツアーでやって来ているので、ご存知の方もいらっしゃると思います。
今日ご紹介するのはヘビメタではなくバラードなんですが、ビルボード・ホット100で全米１位に耀いた彼らの代表曲です。
ヴォーカルのゲイリー・シェローンとギターのヌーノ・ベッテンコートの2人が、アコースティック・ギター一本で美しいハーモニーを聴かせてくれます。
ただ愛していると伝えるのは簡単。でも本当の愛を示すには、実際に相手のために何ができるかを行動で示す必要があると歌っています。
日本人にとっては、愛している（I love you）と言うことだけでも相当ハードル高いですけどね。
