東京ぶらり散歩その14～根津神社から谷中銀座へ Tokyo Stroll #14 – From Nezu Shrine to Yanaka Ginza

GW初日の4月26日（土）、午前中英会話（ワンコイングリッシュ）に行ったあと、家族と合流して、根津神社につつじを見に行った。ところが、何やら雲行きがおかしい。「雨雲レーダー」によると、ドンピシャの時間で雨が降り始めるようだった。
On April 26th, the first day of Golden Week, I went to my weekly English lesson at One Coin English in the morning. After that, I met up with my family and headed to Nezu Shrine to see the azaleas. However, the weather started to look suspicious. According to the rain cloud radar, it was going to rain right on time.

鳥居をくぐった時点ではまだ天気はもっていたが、やがて空が暗くなり、バケツをひっくり返したような土砂降りになった。
When we passed through the torii gate, the weather was still holding up, but soon the sky darkened and it poured like someone had turned over a bucket of water.

雨宿りをすること30分余、ようやく晴れ間が見えてきたので、急ぎ足で園内を回ることにした。
We waited out the rain for about 30 minutes, and when a break in the clouds appeared, we quickly toured the garden.

写真には写っていないが、虹がかかっていた。
Although you can’t see it in the photos, there was a rainbow!

つつじは満開でこそなかったが、十分楽しめる咲きっぷりだった。

宝永３年（1706）完成した権現造りの本殿・幣殿・拝殿・唐門・西門・透塀・楼門が欠けずに現存し、国の重要文化財に指定されている。つつじを抜きにしても、大変由緒ある神社だ。
Nezu Shrine is very historic, with the main hall, offering hall, Karamon gate, west gate, and other buildings built in the Gongen-zukuri style completed in 1706 (Hoei 3). All these structures are designated Important Cultural Properties of Japan. Even without the flowers, it is a significant shrine.

根津神社の後は、歩いて谷中銀座商店街へ。再び雨が降るという予報もあったが、なんとか天気は大丈夫だった。
After Nezu Shrine, we walked to Yanaka Ginza shopping street. Although rain was forecast again, the weather held up.

歩いて腹が減ったということで、商店街の蕎麦屋「畔上」に入る。中途半端な時間だったせいか、店内はガラガラだった。
Walking made us hungry, so we stopped at a soba restaurant called Azue in the shopping street. The restaurant was nearly empty, perhaps because it was an odd time of day.

開化丼のセットを注文。1500円程度だったか。店員はぶっきらぼうだったが、味は悪くなかった。

I ordered the Kaika-don set, which cost about 1,500 yen. The staff were a bit brusque, but the food tasted good.

夕焼けだんだん。少し時間が早かったようだ。
Finally, we visited Yuyake Dandan (Sunset Steps). We arrived a bit early, so it wasn’t crowded yet.

オマケ。グーグルフォトで他の観光客を消してみた。さすがに少し不自然ですね。
As a little extra, I used Google Photos to remove other tourists from some pictures. It looks a bit unnatural, but it was fun to try.
