Van Halen with frontmen David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar are scheduled to perform at the "Signal to Space" concert sometime in 2007.Michael Luckman, is organizing this event to beam a message of peace to the universe. Luckman is the author of Alien Rock: The Rock'N'Roll Extraterrestrial Connection. In my opinion, anything to get Van Halen back together and on the road or in the studio would be great. Even if it's a one time thing it would be worth recording and selling. There are millions of old Van Halen fans all over the world waiting for that. There are also talks that after that show Dave will leave the band again and will be replaced by David Coverdale of Whitesnake fame. The best person to fill the big shoes left by both Sammy and Dave is Ralph Saenz vocals for The Atomic Punks (an early Van Halen tribute band) and vocals for Metal Skool (a tribute to 80's Big Hair Heavy Metal). This guy is a great frontman and singer. You have to see him to really appreciate him.Check out the links to see and hear them in action. The Atomic PunksMetal Skool

Saturday morning about 1:00am, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, a plane carrying the members of Bon Jovi skidded off of the runway due to heavy rain. There were no serious injuries in the accident. Later that night in concert, Jon Bon Jovi joked with the audience in a prepared statement saying the rumors of the band's death were greatly exaggerated. All members are alive and well.

I've been following Line 6 for a while now and have always been impressed with the tone that they have replicated in their amps and effects. A friend of mine uses them exclusively and his sound is big and fat and dripping with tone. At the touch of a button he can get a Fender Twin sound just like that.Since I'm alone and without band these days, I have been looking into computer based recording. Line 6 has got me motivated to get it going. Guitarport and Riff Tracker are the perfect combo for me. I am saving my change so I can pick these toys up as soon as I can. Check them out at

Jimmy Page's guitar solo on the Led Zeppelin classic Stairway to Heaven has been voted the greatest of all time in a new online poll.Page's performance on the 1971 track topped the survey by music website AboutGuitars.com, beating out competition from Eddie Van Halen's solo on the 1978 Van Halen track Eruption and the dual guitar solo by Allen Collins and Gary Rossington on Lynyrd Skynyrd's 1973 epic Freebird. The top ten are:10. Crossroads by Eric Clapton (Cream) 9. Crazy Train by Randy Rhodes (Ozzy Osbourne) 8. Hotel California by Don Felder and Joe Walsh (The Eagles) 7. One by Kirk Hammett (Metallica) 6. November Rain by Slash (Guns N' Roses) 5. All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix 4. Comfortably Numb by David Gilmore (Pink Floyd) 3. Free Bird by Allen Collins and Gary Rossington (Lynyrd Skynyrd) 2. Eruption by Eddie Van Halen (Van Halen) 1. Stairway to Heaven by Jimmy Page (Led Zepplin)It's hard to argue with this list but I think Zack Wylde's solo in No More Tears is worthy of mention. There are so many more. Please let me know which guitar players and solos you like. Who should be on this list. I'll track it and list it if we get enough intrest.

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has said in recent interviews that the end is in sight for Aerosmith. "We're definitely closer to the end than to the beginning, and the number of times that we are going to play is a finite number."He also admits that it is difficult to be in a band at this age much less a rock band with this much energy. It is getting harder to keep up with the schedule.Aerosmith broke into the rock scene in 1970 from Boston. The dirty blues based rock sound caught on and launched Aerosmith into legendary status. Drugs and alcohol plagued the band in the early years but since then have cleaned up their act and their image. The music today is as good as it has ever been and Aerosmith's popularity is sky high. Aerosmith may be near the end, "Let the music do the talkin'."

I was watching TV tonight and I saw a show that had a bunch of people that said they wanted to kill other people and some wanted to kill themselves.I was begging to be invited to that show as a guest. It didn't happen because I'm nobody so you all get to listen to me rave on about this.First of all life is a gift given to us all by our parents and which ever god or supreme being you care to believe in. Life is nothing cheap you can discard or replace whenever you are tired or upset. One person said they feel it should be legal to kill someone if you have a good reason. I thought she was stupid. Your reason is completely relative. In other words, what is important to you may not matter at all to anyone else. who is to say your reason is good enough to kill someone? Another girl said we are all animals and it is only natural to kill one another. My screams at the TV were unheard but my reply was Yes we are all animals by definition but we are the smartest animals. We walk upright. We can build our own shelter. we have the ability to create anything we want and logically solve any problem we are confronted with. We use education and knowledge combined with experience and sound moral judgement. Animals for the most part use instinct. If you really believe we are in the same class as the common animal, remove your clothes, live outside in the open forest and hunt for your food with your bare hands. I'll see if you still think we are in the same class next week. (if you survive)Many people today in my opinion are handed a very safe and sheltered life and when they venture outside their safety zone, the world is a very different place. People are rude. Your feelings get hurt. Many terrible things are thrown at you from all sides. Is the answer violence? Suicide? Murder? I think before we regress to our primitive neanderthal instincts I will ask you this... What are you doing to make your life or the situation better? Yeah life sucks sometimes... What are you going to do to make it better? I'm not big on touchy feely solutions but there are plenty of doctors, police and social workers that are dying to help people. If you really need help there is help out there. Many times, the problem is with us than with others. Don't get me wrong, there are some major tools out there but if more people looked at themselves for a solution instead of others to point the blame, the world might take a giant step forward and all people of every culture and background would be just a little more tolerant of others. My advise is to have respect for everyone as a human being. We don't have to give each other warm milk and back rubs but don't inconvenience me and I'll do the same for you. The golden rule boys and girls is to treat others as you would want to be treated. I know I talk about a lot of fun things on this blog, sex drugs and rock & roll but I really had to get serious and give my 2 cents worth on this. Sorry it was 10 cents worth.

Taylor Hawkins, drummer for the Foo Fighters has started a band called Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders. Like Foo Fighters founder (Dave Grohl) has Probot to occupy his time while on break from the Foo, Hawkins needed something to do. "I'm no good when I have nothing to do. I wanted to make a record and have a project outside the Foo Fighters, so I had to create another little environment to keep myself busy." They are set to tour the US and Europe this spring.

Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, released his solo album called "The Rising Tide". His groups name is Fort Minor. He wanted to place more emphisis on his music than his name. This album is back to the basics Hip Hop that is co-produced by Jay-Z. In Stereo is one cut off of this albulm that is sure to be a hit. Although his Fort Minor project may not go 18X platinum like Hybrid Theory did but, Fort Minor has deffinately made a name in the Hip Hop scene. Check it out at www.fortminor.com
