"Not only will we be inducting Sabbath, we are going to make a humble attempt at playing some of their songs live in front of the gathered masses, including, most humbling of all, the four members of the band themselves," Metallica says in a statement on its Web site.
"For all of us in Metallica, Black Sabbath are a major influence not only on our music, but on our lives, and as you can imagine, we're psyched to join Bill Ward, Geezer Butler, Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi for the induction ceremony," the statement continues.
As previously reported, Metallica is gearing up for a run of South African dates later this month, in advance of eight European festivals in June andJapan's Summer Sonic Festival in August.
The group is also moving ahead on its next studio album, which will be executive produced by Rick Rubin.
