HONDA developed the research vehicle where the technology that prevented the accident beforehand by using the intercommunication etc. of the vehicle was installed, and opened it to the public to reporters. It developed as part of advanced safety vehicle
(ASV) project that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport
promoted. The research and development will be advanced further aiming at practical use in the future.
It is "HONDA ASV‐3. " to develop. "Car that did not knock against" and "Not knocking against, and motorcycle not thrown" were assumed to be a concept, and it corresponded to "ASV‐3 project" of five years (the third stage) that assumed March, 2006 to be a time limit.
The situation not caught easily with the camera and radar was adopted by vehicle and the pedestrian's intercommunications, and the brake and the steering wheel were controlled if necessary when the driving person's evasion operation was not in time in the four-wheeled vehicle except that the accident was prevented beforehand by offering information to the grasp and those who drove, and the technology that reduced damage was adopted, too. Cboakihiro and the chief researcher of Technical Research Institute Honda are speaking with "If this telecommunication system is installed in all cars, the accident of about 10 percent or less might be able to be prevented beforehand though it depends on the computational method".
The ASV project makes the car high intelligence by the electronics technology etc. , improves safety, indicates the car that becomes the saucer of Intelligent Transport System (ITS) technology, and the first stage starts in April, 1991. It becomes the third term eyes now, and the system that uses the communication technology is examined as a reduction means of the traffic accident that cannot be saved by the existing infrastructure technology.
HONDA participates from the first stage project, and has already put two or more safety systems like the expressway driving support system, the rear-end collision reduction brake, and the intelligent night vision system, etc. to practical use.
