I was at a front door and handed material to people who arrived. There were three speakers today and I had a chance to listen to one of them. The lecture that I listened to was given by English native speaker. And of course, he gave the lecture in English. He was a professor of a university.
To my surprise, half of the audience didn’t use receiver that we provided a simultaneous translation and more than half of our employees used it… The professor was speaking very slowly at first, but in the end, he started speaking rapidly.
He said he was teaching English at university. And one of the methods was “logically thinking for presentation”. Have you every experienced the difficulty of making a presentation? I have experienced it before. I didn’t know how to start and finish it. I was speaking what I had in mind, and now I think it was hard for the audience to understand my presentation. Lately, I learned that there was certain logic to give presentation.
Most of all, I was pretty surprised that he made us laugh a few times. If I was in his place, I would be nervous and all I could do is read aloud a script. Perhaps, I made the audience laugh when I couldn’t speak clearly, or I fell to the ground.
I know I must learn how to give presentation first, not how to tell a joke!
