塩狩峠にて

I knew he was different in his sexuality
（彼がホモセクシャルであることは知っていた）
I went to his parties as a straight minority
（彼らの集まりに参加したときに気が付いた）
It never seemed a threat to my masculinity
（だが決していやな気持ちにはならなかった）
（ただ現実に目覚めただけだった）

When I heard that he was gone
I felt a shadow cross my heart

（おぼれていた子供を助ける）

（操縦不能の飛行機を軟着陸させる）

（太鼓からのミステリーを解き明かす）
Hero -- not the handsome actor
（決して英雄の役を演ずる二枚目の俳優ではなく）
Hero -- not the glamour girl
Who'd love to sell her soul
（魂さえ売ってしまう、魅力的な女優でもない）

I didn't know the girl, but I knew her family
（その少女のことは知らなかったが、家族のことは知っていた）
All their lives were shattered in a nightmare of brutality
